SunlessNick was unable to log into the site while away from home since December and sent me a PM via Yog-Sothoth.com to let me know. That was supposed to be resolved by January 5, though.

Traditionally, in WWII movies, two Germans in uniform will be having an irrelevant conversation about how much they miss the Old Country, shortly before they are whacked by Our Heroes.

Hans: Willie, so you remember the edelweiss in the mountains?

Willie: What I wouldn't give to see them again. Or to sit by the river eating schnitzel (with noodles) and drinking a big stein off beer...

And so on.

I always feel a bit sorry for the German guards; they know they’ll never make it to the sequel.

I was reminded of that one too. I also thought of the No One Lives Forever series of games, where if you sneak around, you can overhear goons holding various entertaining conversations with each other. Kind of makes you feel bad about having to take them down.

In the first deus ex, you had guards having a conversation, saying they just wanted to finish this job as quick as possible and return home.
Even worst: a guard that I had killed had a diary. He had written that he regreted to have sign that job, it was nothing it had been promissed, it was awful. I feel bad.

I've had Deus Ex for a long time, but I've never gotten around to playing it yet. I really should. I've heard it's excellent.

As long as you don't mind the visuals (the game has more than 20 years). But is a way better game than Deus ex 3 or 4

I don't mind dated visuals at all. I've been playing a bunch of classic games lately from the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s.

Crowley is trying to pick the right time to throw his knife. It would be silent but some Nazi is probably going to notice a knife in his thigh. Crowley is holding off as long as he thinks Jan can keep taking pot-shots with her nasty toy.

I finished Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II last night, so I decided to play Deus Ex next. I bought it last weekend on GoG because it was on sale for less than a dollar. I already have at least one physical copy, but this saves me the trouble of digging it out and configuring it to work on my modern computer. I also got the free mod bundle upgrade Deus Ex Revision from GoG for it, which updates the graphics and audio, adds new features, and has various other improvements, so the visuals won't be dated (except in the training level, which is not updated). I can now play it in full 4K.

Mr H, was just trying to remember the double-barrel rules myself for 7th ed.

General consensus on the internet seems to be attack 1 target with both barrels is 2 rolls but no penalty.

Attack 2 different targets then incurs the usual bane dice.

But I can't really find anything specifically about it in the pdf of the rules I have. My rules may be out of date.

I too am having to guess; I’m sure I’ve seen blowpipe stats somewhere but can’t find them. So I’m assuming they are tipped with curare poison but that Jan’s only got three darts prepared for this fight.
Does that seem okay?

This is in some footnote in the Keeper's guide:
Uses per Round: Number of attacks that can be initiated per combat round (does not affect number of times a character may fight back with a melee weapon). Most firearms may fire one bullet without penalty; more bullets up to the maximum (shown by the number in brackets) may be fired, but each shot is taken with a penalty die. Some weapons have burst or full auto capability, when using this, use the automatic fire rules. For shotguns firing twice at the same target, no penalty is taken for the second shot, but if the second shot targets a different opponent, that shot is made with a penalty.
