Once he's done his best to care for the dying and set up precautions against infection, Alex takes a stroll around the camp looking for anything unusual or concerning.

"Right now I'm talking to you to try to find out useful information," says Harry. "I might be able to bind wounds, but I'm not a medical expert by any means. While I'm here I can act as protection. If I go out into the jungle, I won't be here if anything happens. When we go exploring, we'll all want to go together too."

You notice several graves, where people have been recently buried. The surface of the graves while freshly dug, are slightly sunken into the ground (where they would normally be raised).

"I have it on good authority that it does," says Harry, "but I've never seen it in action before. Dr. Shapiro knows a lot more about it."

Continuing to stroll around the camp nonchalantly, Alex runs into Butch and takes him to see the graves. 'You're a man of science, any thoughts on what might be causing these fresh graves to sag?' He tries to think of any medical process that might account for it. 'Apart from implausibly rapid decomposition the only medical explanation I can think of is good old fashioned grave robbing!'

"I believe you are right. If the ground has sunken like that, there are only two reasons that I can postulate. The first is that someone has dug up the bodies and the second is if there is a sinkhole of some sort beneath the graveyard. Butch replies. "Didn't someone say that the god of the mountain was upset. Maybe the locals dug up the bodies and sacrificed them to appease this god. Perhaps we can get permission to dig up one of the graves to see what we can find."

"I'm not sure how quickly it will act," says Harry. "Let's ask Dr. Shapiro when he has a spare moment."

Alex grunts at the suggestion of digging up a grave, turning up his nose. 'If you think we must.' He goes looking for the local representative to ask for permission to exhume one of the bodies. 'I'm afraid we need to see the effect on the body after death, there is something odd about the way these graves are shifting.' He indicates his dog collar, 'We'll re-inter them with all the appropriate respect and ritual.'

It is Richard Clements from the survey team.

Grabbing a couple of spades and handing one to Butch, Alex says 'Come on then Butch, we're resurrection men today.' The two of them look faintly ridiculous as they walk along together, the short priest and large engineer. He looks over the graves and chooses the freshest one that shows evidence of sinking. Alex looks up at the big man and gestures to the grave with his spade, 'You've got a decade on me young man, you can do the bulk of it.'

"No problem. I'm used to being a grunt and getting my hands dirty." Butch replies as he digs his spade into the dirt and begins shoveling. "It shouldn't take long to see what's up."

After that, he'll keep his mouth shut and work, stopping occasionally to take a drink of water.

He seems quit relaxed, reading a novel.

"Gentlemen, we have some oddities for you all to examine. Don't touch with your bare hands, obviously."

In one hand, Crowley produces the weird fruit, currently skewered on the end of a long stick to enable safe carriage. With the other he drops a bloodied handkerchief, tied up at the corners to make a small sack on the end of another stick. With a flourish, careful not to get blood on himself, Crowley cuts the sack open with his Gurkha knife to reveal bits of shot-up rat-thing.
