Appearance and Personality: Tall and slender, Henry dresses well if always a few years out of date. He wears thick glasses and comes across as standoffish, and as a result has few friends. But he is a loyal man and will all but lay down his life for those few he has formed a bond with.

Background: Born into a prominent Bostonian family involved in the shipping industry, Henry has been a studious lad since his early childhood. He is a brilliant and knows it, having endured a lifetime of being treated a such. He caused some friction with his family when he decided to become a doctor, but being the youngest son this was eventually accepted. Presently he is finishing up working as a grad student at Miskatonic and learning from its distinguished facility.

In his spare time Henry enjoys hunting, and is surprisingly adept with a rifle. Every now and then he tries to take off for a weekend and head into the woods, allowing himself to reflect and unwind.

Appearance & Personality: Harrison is a small man but neatly dressed and always groomed well with nary a hair out of place. He is talkative and inquisitive but is guarded when the conversation turns to him. He is multilingual although not fluent in other languages. He does not like to be the center of attention but often offers commentary into conversations that he is not part of.

Background,Harrison was born in Philadelphia but he did not have a normal childhood. His father, Llewellyn Matthews, worked in the Pathological Museum next to the morgue doing clandestine autopsies of bodies from the Blockley Almshouse Cemetery. During this time, his father encountered something in the cemetery that changed him. He took his wife and young son and began to travel to ancient cemeteries and tombs around the world, refusing to explain what he was looking for. His bright career as a doctor began to tarnish and Harrison watched as his father began a slow descent into dementia that was hastened by the untimely death of his wife. Harrison's desire to understand and treat his father lead him to all manner of unconventional treatments. Although Llewellyn took his own life at the age of 39, he had already set Harrison upon a path that would come to consume him. Harrison began to realize that he had to hide his investigations to prove that his father was not insane or be branded the same himself. He undertook studies in history to cover for his real passion of studying what lies beyond the ken of man, trying to prove what others refused to believe.

Appearance & Personality: Professor Bruce Patterson is dark haired with a neat moustache. He is of stocky and compact build. Not especially tall, he keeps himself in good shape running and playing basketball.

He’s friendly and pays a keen interest in the well-being of the students, being closer in age to them than a number of sexagenarian and septuagenarian professors. He prefers more casual attire, in contrast to the starch and wing collars of some of the other teaching staff.

Background: Prof. Patterson grew up in rural Oaklahoma, where his interest in natural started at a young age. Not a natural student, he persevered by dint of hard work and gained his degree from The University of Maine before completing his doctorate at Clark University.

He has worked at Miskatonic University for the last five years and lives nearby in one of the houses owned by the university. He is married, but his wife lives away, looking after her ailing mother. He spends weekends and holidays out and about, exploring the local area.

Notes:
The Americans find his name rather a mouthful so have come to call him 'Fort' for short. Which is apt.
Since being in the States he has made friends with some car buffs and spends many a weekend tinkering with racing cars.Unfortunately he is a big to fit in most of the cars

Emily first came to Miskatonic as a student of archaeology - the best option for studying history but also getting to use her hands - her mother died when she was very young, so she ended up following in the veins of many of her father Frank's skills. While studying for her degree she earned some extra money working at the Orne Library and Exhibit Museum (preferring the latter - the curator George Grewe* was friendlier than the somewhat standoffish Armitage in the library). Having recently graduated, she is working in the museum full time, though hoping to save enough to become a graduate student (and hopefully join one of the school's favourite expeditions). She's good at fixing stuff, and is sometimes asked to help with caretaking as well as curating. She's tries to be friendly, but is socially awkward and probably thinks people like her more than they actually do.

* I took the name from the Miskatonic University sourcebook, but I can change it.

Henry Glynn is a handsome young author of ghost stories based in Arkhan, MA. His late father Henry Glynn Snr was a Professor at Harvard University. Henry didn't follow his father's path into academia but instead spent some time in Iowa maintaining farm machinery before moving back east to pursue his ambition to become a writer. Henry's early work was cliche ridden with little literary worth however a novella, The Ghastly Chamber, achieved modest sales and kept Henry afloat just as his inheritance was about to run out. Henry published a second novella The Curse of the Gold Sarcophagus which had an altogether different quality and hinted at the Mythos. He has recently published a third book, The Music of Dr Cazlab which continues the Mythos theme.
