Character Creation

I know you guys sketched out your characters in the game thread but it'd be handy to copy that stuff to this thread and flesh out anything about your characters you think is important. Have a think about how you might have met each other and why you might interact.

Laurent Toussaint is a young car mechanic who embraces beatnik culture. There's nothing he'd like more than to visit America and go on a road trip, but he couldn't afford it. He is hep to Vodou, and his favorite loa is Papa Legba. As the keeper of the crossroads and messenger, he appeals to someone who longs to travel.

Laurent could be a friend of Florence's son Pierre. Maybe they go to school together.

Florence (pronounced the French way) Lavigne is a housewife, who also cooks and tends bar at the Sharktooth for some extra income. She's 36, but looks a little older from care lines. Usually she dresses simply, but likes getting her flair on for festivals. She and her husband keep a particular shrine to Badessey, a loa governing wind and weather.

Her husband Fabrice is a fisherman. She has four children: 16 year old Marise who also helps out in the Sharktooth's kitchen, 14 year old Pierre who helps with his father's boat when it goes out and comes in, 13 year old Ginette who helps look after the 8 year old Rosalie. (There was an intervening baby Jacque - he would be 10 now, but he died when he was 2). She has a sister named Lusette.

I'm good with Pierre being a friend of Laurent.

The Sharktooth is built close to the waterfront, but it caters more to townsfolk who live and work near the sea than the fishing crews themselves. The seating area is unenclosed, although the half nearest the bar and doors to the kitchen are covered with a canopy - the kitchen itself is gratifyingly large, with plenty of room to work. The owner/boss's name is Aubert.

Okay, so does that make Laurent 14 or 15yrs old? How might Laurent and Florence interact, after church, or Laurent coming round to visit Pierre maybe?

Sounds reasonable. Maybe he eats at the Sharktooth?

Yes, that sounds good to me too. Laurent can be 15.
