IC-Ep 3-Twilight Time(Everyone else)

[Mr. Handy]

Maxwell's Sanitarium - London, England
5:20 PM - Tuesday, September 10, 1940

Reverend Archie Pennyfeather and Phyllis Cruckshank left to head to Liverpool Street Station. The orderlies had taken away the uniforms from Eugene and Angus, replacing them with their regular clothes, and locked them in a cell together. They had provided them with a bright electric lamp and left Anna in charge of them.

Eugene settles down as much as he can.

“Wasn’t Charles supposed to be setting up some flashbulbs?” he asks.

[Mr. Handy]

Charles arrived with the flashbulbs he had obtained from his store and set them up around the room.

“Can you rig them up so that we can get them to flash on when we pull a chord?” asks Eugene.

[Mr. Handy]

"Yes, I think I can manage that," said Charles. It didn't take him long to set up the mechanism.

Eugene thanks Charles for his efforts.

“If anything goes wrong and either Angus or myself start to... change, pull the chord. Hopefully the flashes will keep the creature at bay.”

[Mephistophilis]

'I'll try and find some more electric lights, candles, and oil lanterns' says Anna. 'I'm not sure I want to rely just in the flash bulbs.'

[Mr. Handy]

"You're welcome," said Charles. To Anna, he nodded. "Good thinking. You never know when the power will go out in an air raid. Hearing about what happened to that Blake chap..."

Charles had an electric torch, and Anna found some candles and an old oil lantern.

[Mephistophilis]

After ensuring there are enough matches and fuel for the candles and lantern, Anna takes the big ring of keys and explains to the others which keys open which doors, 'Just in case I'm incapacitated.' She also sketches out a potential escape route for the others, for use if they need to leave in a hurry.

Suppertime came, and everyone ate. At around seven o'clock, the air raid sirens began to sound.

“This is it...” mutters Eugene as the sirens begin to wail. He looks across at Angus, wondering which one of them will be chosen by the Father of all Bats.

[Mr. Handy]

A few minutes later, a couple of orderlies came by - two of the same ones who had caught them. "Come along," said one. "The sirens have gone, and we need to get you to the basement shelter."

“Nonono, we’ve got special dispensation to stay up here,” Eugene stammers. “Isn’t that right?” he asks Anna.

[Mephistophilis]

'In their state these two need to remain here' says Anna, thinking on her feet, 'They're too disturbed to be taken below.'

[Mr. Handy]

"I'm afraid we must insist," said the orderly. "Dr. Stoddard's orders. All staff and all patients must go to the shelter when the sirens sound. That includes you, Doctor. It's not safe up here, once the bombs start dropping. Don't worry, it'll be safe down there."

[Mephistophilis]

'Gentlemen, I really must insist these men remain here, it is a medical necessity!' Anna exclaims, trying her best to sound authoritative.

"If it weren't for Dr. Stoddard's orders, we could do what you want," said the orderly. "It's not up to us. You'll have to take it up with him."

[Mephistophilis]

Her shoulders sag and Anna resigns herself to having to relocate to the basement. She busies herself collecting up the various candles, lanterns, and flashes. 'Gentlemen, if you would give us a hand carrying these...'

[Mr. Handy]

"Of course, Doctor," said the orderly. He began to pick up the various light sources, while his partner started ushering the patients out into the hall.

Eugene reluctantly complies, making sure he grabs a flashlight for himself.
