Brook rounded the corner to the front of the sanitarium, where she saw Phyllis waiting and Madeline walking away. With a wink to Phyllis, she began to follow Madeline. Phyllis began to follow her as well. Madeline was heading west at a brisk walk, but they were able to keep pace. Phyllis was careful to keep out of Madeline's view, not being a stealthy sort and sure she'd be recognized. She realized that all she had to do was keep Brook in view and follow her, while Brook followed Madeline.

Glad of the large bolstering tea she's just eaten, Phyllis trots along keeping the trim figure of young Brook in sight.

After walking for a while, they soon reached Liverpool Street Station. Brook followed Madeline down the stairs into the Underground station, and Phyllis followed her. They paid their fares as they passed the turnstiles and descended to the westbound platform. Fortunately, there was enough of a crowd that it was easy to blend into it, with Phyllis hanging well back. Before long, a train arrived and the doors opened. Madeline boarded one of the middle cars, along with several other passengers who had been waiting on the platform. Brook, bold as brass, also got on board the same car as Madeline without being noticed.

OOC,[b]Phyllis[/b], if you wish to also board that car, you will need to roll Hide. You will not need to roll if you board an adjacent car, but you risk losing sight of them.

Using her umbrella with subtle but effective prowess, Phyllis boards an adjacent carriage and bags herself a space right at the end next to Brooks carriage. She peeks through the window at the end but can't see the others so she gets ready to watch the passengers when they disembark at the next stop.

Phyllis couldn't see Madeline or Brook getting off the train for the next several stops. When the train stopped at Queensway station, though, Brook tapped on Phyllis's window, appearing seemingly out of nowhere, and gestured for her to get off the train and follow her.

Phyllis nods and then gets off the train when Brook does. She gives Brook a head start before following her.

Phyllis followed Brook, who followed Madeline back to street level. From there, they went north until they came to the Steadmans' house. Madeline unlocked the front door and went inside, closing it behind her.

Phyllis tries to get closer to Brook without being seen from the house.
"I expect she's gone in for a nice sit down and a spot of wireless while we stand around out here I suppose. Was she at the warehouse with her mother last night do you know?"

The blackout curtains were drawn shut, though there was still some daylight left, so there was no danger of being seen from inside the house unless someone happened to look outside. "Yes, and her husband was there too," said Brook. "One of us should call the sanitarium and let the others know where we are while the other one watches the house."

"Your pins are a lot younger and faster than my old things. Here's a couple of pence for the call. Mind you hurry back although I doubt Mr and Mrs will be going anywhere for a bit."

Phyllis gives Brook some coins and settles down to watch the house. She wonders how her new friend next door is doing.

Brook rushed off to the nearest red phone booth while Phyllis watched the house, where there was no activity she could see. Brook called the sanitarium, having been given the number by Anna earlier,and asked to speak to Anna. After a minute, she got through. "Phyllis and I followed Madeline to her house near Queensway," she said.

"Hold on, let me get the others," replied Anna.

[Mr. Handy]

"Brook, you and Phyllis should come back here," Anna said. "We're setting up a trap in case they come for me tonight. Come to the side door where the ambulances arrive and I'll let you in."

"Okay, I'll go get her," said Brook. "See ya." She went back to where Phyllis was waiting and passed on Anna's message. "Want to head back now?"

"I don't know what use I'll be in setting a trap, not at my age. I'd have thought I'd be better keeping an eye on her ladyship. And maybe calling in the light brigade if it all goes wrong." Phyllis thinks for a moment.

"We've been here a while already, I'll wait another hour and then assume she's staying in tonight and then go back. You head back now if you wish; I expect you don't want to miss out on the action. Unless you have a better idea."
