In the tunnels-
Horst, Flip, and Buzz continued their trek down the darkened, mysterious tunnel, each carrying a crate of hard-won weapons. There were still about five miles to go before they reached the underground entrance to their compound, but Horst and Buzz were used to these hardships, having been in the military. They had had to carry heavier equipment than this over greater distances. Flp had no similar experiences on which to fall back, but he would manage. He would have to manage.

There was a sudden rumble and shaking of the ground, as if a minor earthquake had just occurred.

Flip continues to lug his weapon case, trying his best to appear tough in front of the other men. He contents himself with the prizes waiting for him at the end of the long trek-- something he would definitely be taking advantage of.

His twisted fantasies are interrupted by the earthquake.

In the tunnels-
"It was an earthquake," said Horst. "It is one of the signs of the end! Do not fear, you are under my protection. It came from the left."

The group continued further down the tunnel. Soon there was a branch leading off to the left, but the tunnel continued straight ahead as well.

"The footprints go straight ahead," said Buzz. "That's the way back to the compound."

However, down the left-hand branch was something small and sparkling in the distance.

Flip is comforted by Horst's words somewhat, having born witness to the man's ability to smite the large demon up above. God clearly favored him.

"I think we should keep heading home," he offers. "Get the rest of the boys together and armed and ready for whatever trouble comes our way. Let the demons tear through the unpure and deviants and be there afterwards to pick up the pieces." He grins, thinking about all the women they could add to their collection. They'd have to repopulate the earth after all, and as the Lord's favored it would be their duty.
