IC-Prisoners(various)

The dead have begun to rise, but they are not the only problem. A small group of survivors at a truck stop in southwestern Nebraska must contend not only with zombies, but with internal division, a nearby group of heavily-armed skinhead survivalists, and even more horrifying dangers. Can they overcome their differences and survive, or will they join the ranks of the living dead?

IC-Prisoners(various)

Post by Mr. Handy »

Z-Day - 9:41:24 AM Mountain Daylight Time - Underneath the T-Bone
In the reception area-
Rita, Alex, Alice, Bud, Duke, and Robert burst through the door and into the reception office. Alex slammed the door shut behind them. There were a desk with a chair, some filing cabinets, and some empty bookcases. A doorway at the back of the office led down the hallway to a closed door. There were two other doors on each side of the hallway. The reception office contained a desk, bare bookcases, and filing cabinets. Through the doorway at the back, they could see four armed skinheads and four hostages. Two of them, one with an M-16 and the other with a large handgun, were trying to force open the door at the back, and Flip was right behind them, gripping Rosie with one arm and a pistol with the other. He also had a shotgun slung over his shoulder. In front of them were Hammond and Earl, and in front of them was Horst, who had one arm around Ashley's waist and another with a pistol to her back while he held her between him and the reception area as a shield. He too had a shotgun over his shoulder. "Don't shoot!" cried Alice.

In the short hallway-
Flip was unable to reach the door, dragging Rosie with him, as there was only enough room in front of it for two, and Buzz and Mutt had gotten there first. They were slowly but surely forcing it open. Still, he was in a good position to get through right behind them once they eventually got past it. Hammond and Earl stood behind them, with Horst now bringing up the rear. He was facing the reception area, holding Ashley as a shield. Of the six new arrivals, they could see that Alex had a military-style assault rifle, while Rita and Bud held revolvers. Duke gripped a baseball bat in both hands, while Robert and Alice were unarmed. Alice was badly injured, bleeding from one arm.

"Drop your weapons!" Horst demanded of the newcomers. "It would be a shame if one of these pretty waitresses got hurt."

"Stand down! We're not going to fight you!" Alex retorts back at the skinheads,
"Get this table against the door fast; and the filing cabinets now! We've got zombies right behind us."

He commands and then starts moving the furniture against the door he came through himself, ignoring the blustering skinheads. "Come on everyone, push those bookshelves over here on the double."

In the reception area-
Robert and Duke quickly got to work helping Alex barricade the door through which they had entered with the furniture in the room.

"Listen to him!" insisted Bud, also lending a hand. "You saw those crazies on TV. Well, they're here! If we fight each other, we'll all end up dead. We have to work together to survive."

"All right," said Horst. "Keep your weapons, just don't try anything. Stand down, boys. Let's just get that far door open. Our guns are on the other side, and we're gonna need 'em."

No sooner had a rudimentary blockade been shoved in front of the door than someone started battering it from the other side. Whoever it was was very powerful, and the desk and cabinets were nearly smashed to bits as dents and holes began to appear on the door. There wasn't much left of the door or the makeshift barricade, but they continued to block the doorway, this time with one of the bookcases, while Alice tied a tourniquet around her arm and tried to stop the bleeding. However, the door and bookcase were smashed with a pair of mighty blows! The priest and one of the skinheads whom Flip recognized as Jeff started to squeeze through the doorway, and another skinhead, Guzzman, was right behind them!

In the short hallway-
"Quick, get that door open!" Horst shouted to Buzz and Mutt. "At least they'll eat the others first." Buzz and Mutt were almost through the door. Apparently, though they were very strong, they weren't as powerful as the "zombies." Flip could see that they had grievous wounds. Jeff had a massive sucking chest wound and various other bullet wounds all over his body. Guzzmann had been horribly shot in the gut, and he also had a few holes in his right arm and leg. The priest had a horribly gnawed right arm and broken ribs sticking out of his chest. They all had malevolent red eyes. None of them should still have been alive, let alone ambulatory.

"Christ, they're strong! Everyone retreat; follow the skinheads! Shoot if you can!" Alex can't believe how quickly the barricade is being torn down. He aims for the head of Jeff whilst reversing into the hallway after the others.

Flip Sanity Check,[dice=total]0[/dice]
Image

Flip was done taking prisoners and released any hold he had on Rosie. It was all he could do to keep his jaw from hitting the floor after seeing the hoard in front of him shamble any closer. He was quite frankly embarrassed to be pushing these poor folks around after the crap he' seen today. This is end of days kind shit happening here.

God''s got himself a pad and pen tonight boyos and he's keeping score for sure.

Flip wasn't stupid though and backed down the hall away from the encroaching zombies, his pistol trained on the priest.

He yelled to his boss.

I don't see the crate!!!

In the reception area-
Alex's shot blew a hole through Jeff's head, and he fell in a heap. "Aim for the head!" cried Bud, shooting Guzzmann in the head and dropping him with a single shot while Rita fired at Roger and missed. Just as the undead priest was about to reach them, Bud put a bullet in his head too and laid him to rest, but Rita's second shot barely missed. The three dead men who had been so hard to kill now lay motionless on the floor. Duke, Robert, and Alice rushed into the small, crowded hallway.

In the short hallway-
Hammond fainted at the sight of the walking dead, taking up plenty of space in what was quickly becoming a very crowded, narrow hallway. Buzz and Mutt finally broke down the barricade ahead of them. The door flew open, and the room beyond was revealed. It was a guard room, with a couple of bunks and 1960s pinups on the wall. A desk and filing cabinet, the former components of the barricade, lay broken on the floor. A closed door was at the opposite end of the room. There was indeed no sign of the crates, or anyone for that matter, in the guard room. Duke, Robert, and Alice entered the short hall from the reception area.

"Alright! Eat dirt suckers!" Alex whoops as the dead men finally die. "Okay we need someone on fire watch at both doors." He looks around the room checking the exits. "This is not a good place to hole up; we need to keep moving. Where'd you come from down here?" He asks Horst who seems to be the leader of the other group. He decides to ignore the 'hostage-type' situation he saw earlier. For now.

Flip props himself up against a wall and begins to swet profusely shaking his head and generally losing his shit.

He looks over at Rosie and is almost brought to tears.

What the hell were we thinking?

He slaps himself in the face no less than twice and then shakes his head.

He then jerks himself up and stands next to Horst. His gun shaking in his hand. He whispers while scowling at Alex.

What do we do here boss...

In the reception area-
Rita and Bud followed Alex into the short hall, reloading their revolvers.

In the short hallway-
"We keep moving," said Horst. "We get our guns." He gave Hammond's prone form a deprecating glance. "Leave him, he's worthless. Bring the others."

"I have to agree with Horst," said Rita, kicking her husband as she stepped over him.

Gripping Ashley, Horst led the way into the guard room, holding her in front of him. Everyone except Hammond followed.

In the guard room-
The large group squeezed through the hallway and spread out into the guard room. Horst nodded to Alex. "You know your stuff," he said. "We could use a man like you. You've clearly got military experience. We came down the same way you did, only we were ahead of you. I'm Horst Jaegermeister, leader of the Prairie Militia Society. We've got a compound a short ways north of here. Want to be rear guard, in case more of them come down here? We need to keep moving forward, through that door." He indicated the closed door at the far end of the room.

"US Marines." Counters Alex. "We need to get these civilians somewhere safe. Is your compound defendable?" He checks his weapon and does a tally of everyone's weapon. He also assesses Flip who seems unstable.

"If you have a cache we should arm everyone who can hold a gun." He see's Alice's expression. "Don't worry, Ma'am, I can give anyone a crash course in the basics, get you up to speed; enough to make a difference and possibly save your own life.
"So Horst, what is this place and how come you know the layout?"

Flip is most definitely unstable at the moment. He is listening to the exchange between Alex and Horst with only a vague comprehension of what they are talking about. Mainly because he can't stop glancing back down the hallway where the undead were just shambling and jerking around like it were a Sunday morning and they were on their way to church to feast on the entire congregation.

Horts laughs out loud briefly to himself and then refocuses back on Horst and Alex.

We could hold em all at the compound boss. I don't know about giving up the guns though... Last thing we need is some granny with a gat shootin' up the joint!

In the guard room-
"The guns are ours," said Horst, "and we're not going to give them away. But our compound is very defensible, and anyone of pure racial stock who can pull his own weight is welcome to join us." Alex saw that he still had most of his magazine remaining, with 26 bullets still in it. Buzz carried a Desert Eagle .50 pistol, while Mutt had an M-16. Flip and Horst each had a smaller pistol in one hand and a shotgun slung over his shoulder. Rita and Bud reloaded their revolvers as they passed through the guard room. Horst, still holding Ashley in front of him, followed Buzz and Mutt to the door at the far end. Buzz leaned against the wall next to the door and carefully tried it. It opened to reveal what looked to be an interrogation room. The room was empty except for a table and two chairs. One of the chairs seemed to be equipped with restraints. There was a rather strange electrical generator in the room as well, and an empty bucket once used for water. At the far end was another door, this one closed. It was beyond that door that the screaming could be heard. Seeing that nobody was in the room, everyone except Hammond proceeded into it.

In the interrogation room-
The group went through the small room toward the door at the back. The screaming was closer now, but the moaning had stopped.
Alex,Bringing up the rear, Alex saw Hammond come to his senses and rise to his feet. He looked at Alex, holding a finger to his lips, and scurried back into the reception room.
Flip,Flip knew in his heart that this was it. These were the end times, the final battle between good and evil. He had done much evil in his life, but it was not too late to turn things around and choose good if he so wished. Sooner or later, and probably sooner, he would need to choose between the two. It would not be possible to sit on the fence, not now. The last days were here, and the choice was his.
Your temporary insanity is over, but now your indefinite insanity begins. In this case it is the same as your temporary insanity. You believe that these are the end times, and what you've just witnessed is all the proof you need. What you do about it is up to you.
Flip looks over the rest of the group in silent judgement. Truth he was posturing for Horst's sake. He had no intention of rejecting any of these folks. These were end times.. Bad guys were a bunch of rotters... Heart beat seemed to mean something at this point in the god damn apocalypse.

They look all right to me boss. Buncha wetback pussies... but Ok?

Flip then approached the door where all the screaming (now moaning) was coming from.

He looked to Alex.

Ah for fuck's sake.. You Ain't gonna open that door ain't yah?

Alex looks briefly back the way they had come and then shakes his head at Flip.

In the interrogation room-
"No, it's better to take the surface route, in our vehicles," said Horst, "but the guns we came to get are past that door. Buzz, open it."

Buzz nodded and leaned against the wall beside the door again, once more cautiously opening it and peeking through, pointing his Desert Eagle around the side. It revealed a hallway stretching into the distance. Twelve doors lined it, six on each side. The doors were made of solid metal, though there was a sliding panel at eye level on each of them and a narrow slot at the bottom for sliding a tray of food underneath. Each door had a number stenciled on it from 1 to 12. The odd numbered doors were on the left side of the hall, and the even ones were on the right. The numbers started at one and two and increased as they went. At the far end, a doorway led further. The door of cell number 4 was open, and it was from there that the screaming emanated. Buzz and Mutt led the way into the cell block, followed by Horst, who still gripped Ashley, followed by Flip, Rosie, and Earl. Then Rita, Bud, Alice, Duke, and Robert followed, with Alex bringing up the rear.

In the cell block-
Everyone filed into the cell block. The hallway was only wide enough that two could go abreast.
Alex,Glancing back, Alex saw Hammond run down the entry hall beyond the reception office, drawing a revolver hidden in an inside jacket pocket. When he reached the open gate, he stopped and gasped, pointing the gun through it at a downward angle.

Alex,No, he's not trying to shoot the gate closed. That wouldn't even be possible. The lock itself was shot to pieces earlier. It looks like he's trying to shoot something on ground level just beyond the gate. You'll never reach him before he gets off the shot, and you can't see whatever it is beyond the gate, as it's around the corner.

In the cell block-
Alex ran back into the interrogation room, rifle at the ready.

A distant shot rang out back the way they had come. Buzz glanced back that way, trembled, and then looked ahead. "I see you!" he called, standing behind Earl with his Desert Eagle pointed at his back. "Throw the weapons down now, or someone dies!"
