IC-Highway to Hell(Randall/David/Tisha/Willie/Felice)

The dead have begun to rise, but they are not the only problem. A small group of survivors at a truck stop in southwestern Nebraska must contend not only with zombies, but with internal division, a nearby group of heavily-armed skinhead survivalists, and even more horrifying dangers. Can they overcome their differences and survive, or will they join the ranks of the living dead?

On the road-
The vehicles rolled through the Welcome Center's parking lot, which was deserted. There was movement on the overpass for I-25 that went over it, several people on foot, but they were far enough away that they could be avoided. Willie directed David through the parking lot and beyond the overpass to a smaller road that went northeast and southwest. "This is Clear Creek Parkway," he said. "Turn right here. It should take us four miles before we have to get onto I-25. Then there's a cloverleaf that'll put us on I-80. I'm not looking forward to that."

Tisha wants to ask Willie his honest opinion on their chances of making it to the base, but she's not sure she'd like his answer. All they could do was continue on and trust in David's driving.

She's not accustomed to feeling entirely powerless, and decides she hates it. So she fingers the gun in her hand, hoping it provides her with at least an illusion of security.

On the road-
The vehicles rounded the bend and headed down the road, past a paved road on the left. Not long after that, a small dirt road branched off to the left. "Just ignore those roads and keep going," said Willie. "This road feeds right into I-25, and that's the only way out of here."
OOC,Fortunately, no Drive roll was needed there.

Tisha looks over to Randall, who hasn't said anything for some time now. She wants to make sure he's still breathing.

On the road-
Tisha could see that Randall was still breathing. His eyes were closed, but his chest rose and fell.

David drove past the turnoffs. The road continued to parallel I-25.

Sleep is probably the best thing for him, Tisha thinks, though the risk of him dying in his sleep alarmed her. She made a note to look over every couple of minutes.

David scans the road ahead to be able to plan for any evasion maneuver he might need to make. Better to be prepared than taken unawares. He checks his seat belt. "Make sure you are secured, guys. If things get wild - we better be seated well."

On the road-
"We don't have enough belts," said Willie. "There are four of us crammed in here, but only three belts. Tisha, you should take the middle belt."

The vehicles drove on for another mile, rolling by another turnoff to the left. Another was visible up ahead, to the right. "We're almost there," said Willie. "Just follow the road to the end, and it'll lead to the on-ramp."

Tisha shakes her head. "No way, Willie. I'm a lot younger than you-- and let's be honest, in better shape. You should take the belt, I'll be fine."

On the road-
Willie reluctantly put on the seatbelt as the truck drove up the ramp to I-25.

On the highway-
David and Felice drove onto the highway - and straight into hell. To the south was a massive pileup blocking the highway. The only break they got was that they needed to go north. However, there were plenty of red-eyed people ahead of them streaming toward them, as well as others clambering out of and over the wrecked cars to the south that were also heading their way.
OOC,There's no need to roll Sanity, as you're all used to zombies by now. However, I'll need a Drive Truck roll from David. I'll roll Drive Auto for Felice.

On the highway-
David and Felice slowed down and tried to weave in and out between the red-eyed fiends, but they were just too tightly packed. David began to fishtail very badly, striking more of them and causing him to completely lose control of the truck. Ultimately, it rolled over onto its right side. Randall was miraculously not too badly hurt. Tisha got the worst of it, not wearing a seatbelt, but David and Willie were hurt somewhat badly in the collision too. Fortunately, all of them stayed conscious. Through the windshield, they could see the horde start to converge on the overturned tractor-trailer.

Behind them, Felice had also struck one of the hungry people. Her car's usually excellent handling failed her, and it rolled over on its side almost immediately. She screamed in terror as a couple members of the mob, including the one she had hit, began to close in on her as well.

Fighting off the impending panic that threatened to consume her, Tisha racks her brain for a way out of the current disaster.
Idea 65%,[dice]0[/dice] Not even sure if this will work or is allowed, but I feel like it's what Tis would do IC- helps that her player really has no idea what to do at the moment and wants to keep her alive if he can. Hopefully she's smarter than me!
But she's too panicked, and slinks back in her seat.

David takes a second to weigh their options. One: they could try to get to the trailer and barricade themselves. They have food in there. Two: they could try to out-run the mob. Heading north and picking off some infected people should be the way to go. If they need to come back for supplies later, they could.

"We´re legging it northbound, guys. Tish. You pop the bastards if they get to close. I´ll bullwhack them and draw attention from ya´ll." He pushes the lopsided door open and unclutches his seat belt. What to bring outside? A large spanner from the back of the seat might do. Better than bare fists. The plan is to hoist the others up on the side of the cabin and then slide down, aiming to get north on I-25.

On the highway-
David hauled himself out of the driver's side door and onto the left side of the truck's cab, which was now on top. From his vantage point, he could see that most of the infected were coming from the north, the direction of Cheyenne. One of them was actually running very fast and pulled ahead of the others, reaching the front of the truck and heading right for the windshield! Two others were a short distance behind it, and others were closing in from behind. The only ones behind him were the ones he had passed or run over. There was a mostly clear path back to the on ramp they had used to get on the highway, which was not too far away. Also in that direction was Felice's car, which was even nearer to the ramp. She struggled to unbuckle her seatbelt and climb out as David had done, but she couldn't manage it. She screamed in terror as two more infected began to close in on her, one from the front and another from the rear.

Below, in the truck, Tisha was now on top. Willie and Randall were crushed beneath her.
OOC,Felice's Climb roll (40% base skill) to get out of her car: [dice]0[/dice] David, please roll Spot Hidden. The base skill is 25%. You may also roll Idea. Tisha, if you wish to climb up and join David, you will need to roll Climb. The base skill is 40%. If you fail, David may try to haul you up by making a Resistance Table roll pitting his STR of 10 against your SIZ of 13, which gives him a 35% chance. If he attempts this, however, it is his action for the round.
