IC-Back Room Deal(Hammond/David)

Z-Day - 8:50 AM Mountain Daylight Time - At the T-Bone
In the back room-
David had just entered Boss Hammond's back office in the T-Bone truck stop. Hammond himself sat behind his oak desk, waiting for him. "Close the door," he said to David, "then have a seat." He gestured to a chair in front of the desk that was nowhere near as big or as comfortable as Hammond's own. While David did so, Hammond opened a humidor on top of the desk and pulled out two cigars, extending one to the truck driver.

David leans forward, accepting the proffered cigar with a, "Thanks!" and props it between his lips. He walks over to the door and shuts out the sound from the cafeteria and seats himself down in the less than luxurious chair. He lights the cigar and says, "Hairy stuff out there, with meteors and crazies, right?" He nudges the Sig a bit to the side as it´s at an awkward angle to his hip while seated. He decides to unholster it during the meet and places it on the oak desk, raising an eyebrow adding, "Let´s talk..."

To himself he thinks, "Damn, good to have that old nazi out of ear-shot."

8:51 AM
In the back room-
Hammond lit up his own cigar, blowing out a puff of smoke before sliding it to the corner of his mouth so he could speak. "Yeah, I've been listening to the radio," he said. "I got some extra work for you, if you're interested."

"Anything goes, boss." David waits for instructions.

[Mr. Handy]

8:52 AM

"Excellent," said Hammond, taking a scrap of paper and scrawling something on it with a pen. "I understand you're hauling a reefer full of food to Cheyenne. After you've delivered it, I have a pickup for you to make there. Go to this address." He handed David the paper. "It's a warehouse. You'll give the code word 'excelsior.' Then they'll load the cargo into your truck, and you bring it back here to me. The usual arrangement, for your usual fee. Forty miles, piece of cake."

Judging from the situation, this was a job like any other.

As far as Dave could tell, this was just business as usual for Hammond. Nothing he hadn't done before. Should be a milk run.

"No worries. I´ll get your stuff."

He pockets the note and exits the office, ready to board his rig. Now, only the company issue was to be fixed. Maybe he can get Rosie along for a ride...

[Mr. Handy]

"I'll expect it this afternoon," said Hammond as David opened the door and left.
