IC - 7 - AI Core - Kiara

Barnard's Rest Colony, Titan

Kiara, Isabella, and Li walk to the maintenance sector. On the journey over Isabella chatters unselfconsciously about CENTRAL AIs and how they're quasi-organic highly parallel quantum computers that need specialised kernels to interface with conventional digital architecture. She speculates that there may have been some kind of error in the kernel and she hopes to be able to reboot it. Li remains silent.

They arrive at an anonymous looking metal door that is unmarked, near the Engineering Facility. Isabella says that the AI core lies behind it. While she is trying to figure out how to open the door the weak illumination from the green emergency lights suddenly blinks out. The corridor is pitch black and completely silent.

After about ten seconds floor level LED lights come on, bright pinpricks of intense white light that flash progressively indicating the direction to follow for evacuation towards an assembly point. After another minute there are red flashing beacons spaced widely along the walls and a whining siren starts.

Kiara looks around in alarm.

“I’m, what’s going on? I guess we’d better go?”

'Oh shit, well, we're never getting this open now' curses Isabella. The three women follow the LED lights towards the Engineering Facility where they can hear quite a commotion.

Entering they can hear some debate about restarting a compression generator. Among the voices are Moses and Sam.
