With none of the return fire coming anywhere near him, Butch continues to track the airplane and fires another shot. Unfortunately, this bullet was a dud and very nearly jammed in the chamber.

Harry fires at the Nazi on the sled, hoping to finish him off. His next shot is lucky to hit, but the others go wide.

The nazi in the last sled was wounded by bullets from Crowlet and Harry, buty it was the last shot from Harry that finished him. The sled continued without a driver like a ghost ship.

Alex is badly wounded by the airplane; the airplane is preparing to attack you again.

Alex falls back inside the entrance to the base, bleeding profusely from a bullet wound in his chest. He pulls himself behind the door, out of the firing line of the plane. His shallow sucking breaths are rapid and harsh.

Crowley:

Crowley raises an eyebrow at the fallen sled-Nazi. "Take that, Boche!"

Then he swings his still outstretched arm towards the aircraft, takes hasty aim and fires a single shot. "The Royal Flying Corps!"

Butch ejects the dead round with disgust and chambers another round. The plane is getting close enough for him to more generally fire at the pilot and not just the plane. He squeezes off another round and is rewarded with the metallic sound of another hit.

Peeling back strips of blood soaked clothing, Alex gingerly explores the wound. He tries to staunch the bleeding as best he can, but without much success.

He lays down the shotgun aware that he is in no state to handle it. He takes out his revolver and grips it tightly in his hand, hoping the others can see off the Nazis before they get to the building.

Harry fires his remaining bullets at the plane.

You see some smoke in the plane and the pilot has some dificulty to control it; suddenly there are flames and the plane fall near the base, but not un a safe distance. There is a terrible explosion, and then only the wind.

With the enemy defeated, Harry helps Alex with his wound.

Butch will advance towards the man that was being chased with his rifle ready. He calls out, "Hey Mister. What's going on here?"

Harry's ministrations at least stop the bleeding from the ragged wound in Alex's chest. 'Thanks Harry, I thought I was a gonner that time. And no holy magic to patch me up like in the jungle.'

He smiles weakly and then gingerly tries to stand. To his surprise he finds he can just about get to his feet and take a few breaths although the pain is still immense. 'If we get the chance I'm going to have to stitch this wound up properly later.'

"Any time," says Harry, helping Alex stand. "Shall we go see who we've rescued? Maybe he can tell us what the Nazis are doing here and why they were after him. Or maybe the Nazis have some papers on them giving them their orders. Nazis are sticklers for that sort of thing."

Crowley:

Crowley quickly breaks open and reloads his Webley revolver. At the same time, he shouts to his friends: "Unless you want to have nightmares for years, I would suggest staying out of the hut for the moment! What's in there is almost beyond description!"

Crowley stalks forward to check on the sled-Nazis, to see if they are indeed dead and to check for clues, papers etc. He is very wary and keeps his revolver drawn.

OOC:   Did Crowley recognise the make of the aircraft? Is the crash site within walking distance?
