"I don't 'spose the town lending library will have a copy of this Nerdomonica book?" asked Wendy doubtfully. "Hey! there's someone inside," and she pointed at a security guard, sat behind a desk, nodding, "Half asleep?" over a flask and a newspaper.

OOC:   Play Flashlight, then Investigate? I'd like to play Pickpocket... Other thoughts? Sefina first?

OOC,You have a better Intellect than I do, so you'd be more likely to find the clues by investigating. However, I have another idea. Why don't I just play The Painted World as a copy of Drawn to the Flame? That'll advance the act in a single action, allowing us both to get inside on the first turn. If the encounter card spawns an enemy, I still have two actions left, allowing me to try to evade and then move, so we can leave it stuck outside.

"Leave this to me," says Sefina, brimming with confidence. "If there's one thing I'm good at, it's getting a man's attention."

OOC,Action 1: Play The Painted World as a copy of Drawn to the Flame. I choose event. Since I've already played the Painted World, and the events under my character are not actually in my hand, I discard nothing. 2 clues gained. 2 clues spent to advance the act.

"Let's go inside and start looking around," says Sefina, peering through the now open door. "I'll go with Adam Lynch to the security office. Wendy, why don't you check the administrative office?" She slips her arm through Adam's and walks through the darkened halls to the security office door.

Adam stops short when he sees that the door is ajar. "That wasn't like that before..." he says. He sniffs the air. "That metallic smell...it's blood! Stay behind me, Miss." He leads the way inside.

"Okay, will do," replied Wendy.

She studied the portraits hung outside the Administration Office's door, "What a miserable looking lot!" she thought, and made a mental note, then and there, never to visit a museum again. On entering the office she was struck by how organised everything was, the files, books, and forms. She noticed a jacket draped over a chair back and realised that they may not be alone. Hastily she began the search for clues, but when rooting through her pockets realised that she didn't have enough kit to do the job.

OOC,If we'd known what was coming, we'd have gone in opposite directions. Still, it's not too bad. Barring a delay from my encounter, I can equip my flashlight and get both clues next turn. You can't equip yours, though, unless you draw an additional card next turn. At that point, you'd be spending two actions and only have one left to investigate. It would be better to spend all three (or two if you're successful twice) trying it without the flashlight.

Feeling like someone has just walked over her grave, Sefina makes an arcane gesture to ward off evil.

OOC,Yes, I'll definitely do that! Play The Painted World as a copy of Ward of Protection, spending 1 resource. The Revelation effect of Ephemeral Exhibits is canceled. [b]Sefina[/b] takes 1 horror.

OOC:   What's the plan? Wendy could Investigate, committing Resourceful, take back "Look what I found!" and Investigate again, hoping for another 2 clues.

OOC,I'd thought of that, but I think that's risky. If you fail on the first roll (when you use Resourceful), you won't get a card back and will only have four cards in your hand. Then you won't be able to investigate again unless you use another action to draw a card. It may be better if you just investigate without playing cards until you find two clues, but it's up to you. If you're lucky enough to get them in two tries, you could then use your third action to move back to the Museum Halls. Each normal attempt has 10 chances out of 16 to succeed. On the other hand, if you succeed with Resourceful (12 chances out of 16), you'll have a very good chance to find one or two more clues (or even all three of the others). I'll play a Flashlight and investigate twice, which will find both clues at my location as long as I don't draw tentacles. Either one of us could go first, really.

Wendy searched the row of files; she pulled out several, making an untidy clutter upon the thin carpet, and down fluttered a leaflet. She snatched it up.

"Visit the village of Dunwich, MA," she read, "and experience traditional American culture!"

In a drawer she found a silver key, which she thought very pretty, and with a guilty glance around slipped it into her cardigan pocket.

She rushed back to the halls to tell Sefina about her finds.

"What happened here?" asks Adam, suddenly afraid.

"I don't know," says Sefina. "Let's take a good look around." She lights her flashlight and begins a methodical search of the office.

A bitter chill surges through the small office. Teeth chattering, Sefina wraps her arms around Adam, who is surprised but far from upset. The two of them are able to keep each other warm until the wave of cold passes.

OOC,Yes, please. You should go first. The locked door won't be a problem. If necessary, I can always use Drawn to the Flame to grab those two clues later. Will roll (Will 4 + 1[Clarity of Mind] = 5 vs. 4[Crypt Chill]): [dice]0[/dice] -1. Success!
