Except for some minor details, the characters are all done. We have 4 players in the game; I sent a message to Dave, but he hasn't answered yet. I'm thinking to start the game at 9 or 10 of December, so another player can still join us.

By the way, I'm thinking that every player should have a "shadow companion": a companion that can be used if the the prime character die and we avoid the need to create a substitute from scratch. You don't need to flesh him out for now just, give him/her a name and 1 line of description.

Should the shadow companion have the same occupation as the main character?

I was going to go for a mysterious indigenous assistant/maid.

Are you thinking of the shadow companion being like our assistants so they can step in for us if we die?

Jeremiah Fells

African-Canadian professional boxer. Colleague of Crowley's since the Great War. Currently employed as a boxing and athletics coach at Miskatonic.

(Assuming Misk had boxing and athletics coaches, or at least one. If that's not the case he could be the night guard or something similar.)

Archetype: Two Fisted
Occupation: Boxer

The concept doesn't need to be a clone of your main, but it must fill the same role to make easier the transition.

Thanks. This is actually a character I'm creating as an NPC in a (non-pulp) scenario I'm writing. I actually played a version of her before in a (modern) Cthulhu Dark game, but there aren't really stats and skills in that.

Katrina Tolliver

Graduate student in Archaeology at Miskatonic University. Harry's research assistant.

Archetype: Sidekick
Occupation: Student

No sweat. In that case, scrap Jeremiah.

Crowley's alternate shall be:
Mickey "Red" Devlin
Seeker archetype
Investigative Journo. Freelancer with a nose for trouble and a good story.

I'm not sure of everyone's roles in this game since we didn't discuss that in character creation. That being said, I focused on mechanical and electrical repair with demolitions on the side for my original character.

My companion will Eddie "Moose" Morrison (a Beefsteak archetype with a Mechanic occupation). A bit more blue collar than Butch but should still fill the "repair stuff" role.

For Fr Malone's companion I've said the following:

His closest companion is Maria ParaguaƧu (archetype Outsider), a quiet and distant young woman who has been working with him since his time in Brazil. An indigenous Catholic convert he describes her as his housekeeper but she has been assisting him in his academic work as well as attending to his more material needs. Dr Malone has shared some of his speculations with Maria but her cold demeanour gives little indication of her thoughts or why she chooses to accompany Fr Malone rather than return home.

Not sure about career until I see the rolls and also until I get a sense of what features of Fr Malone are useful but I think an outsider archetype complements his mystic archetype.

Assume that both my primary character and his (Paranoia-RPG-Clone) 2nd fill the role of allegedly skilled investigator / consulting detective / intrepid boy reporter, who may in fact be inept but does not lack for confidence.

As a wise, wise theologian once said, "I have confidence in confidence itself."

In the 30's everyone will assumed that she is her servant and her lover, but nobody will say anything.

Traditionally, every member of the fairer sex Crowley has become 'acquainted' with has subsequently been revealed to be a murderous devotee of Kali, a member of the modern day Hashishim, or her female flatmate turns out to be from the Andaman Islands etc.

Crowley has developed a rather jaundiced view of the female of the species...

For a collection of pulp heroes, we are not exactly muscle bound. None of us has sufficient strength to even get a damage bonus!

The team will just have to never go down to the beach or else beach bullies will kick sand in our faces.

We can wait till one of us inevitably dies and then the replacement might roll up a bit stronger.

Old timers among us might be reminded of those Charles Atlas adds you'd see in Marvel comics in the '80s, where the skinny guy at the beach gets sand kicked in his face by some big dude so resolves to buff up a bit.

Fear not, what our team lacks in manliness it will make up for with pluck!

Who needs strength when you have a gun.
That is until we need to roll a boulder away from an ancient tomb...
