"That thing may block bullets," says Harry, "but maybe not hand-to-hand. If we can cut the medallion's chain, we'll have him for sure.' He whips out his machete and rushes the Nazi, trying to use it to cut the medallion's chain, or failing that to run him through.

Crowley yells at Butch: "Come and take over from me getting this stone thing away, and I'll give the Boche a clip around the ear!"

Butch gets his revenge: the machette breaks the chain and you all see a dark light glowing from the de medallion; then the machette continues cutting the flesh and the german makes a huge scream and fall in his knees, badly wounded but still alive. He point his gun and shoot a last time.
