In Muppet Cthulhu a character or Muppet's Insanity score is determined in the same way as a regular call of cthulhu's Sanity Score.

It is taken as a measure of your Power characteristic.

So a character with 60 (12) POW would have a 60 Insanity.

Where as Sanity could be considered your defence against the mythos in a human character, Insanity in a Muppet character could be considered a defence against the real world. A Muppet with 40 sanity like Bunsen Honeydew has a much firmer grasp on the real world than a Muppet such as Beaker with a 90 Insanity.

The Higher a Muppet's Insanity score the farther from the human world that Muppet begins play. The Insanity Score can be considered an anchor to the Muppet Mythos. Before a Muppet can even begin to comprehend the Cthuhu Mythos, his Insanity must be broken down and that Muppet made sane first. (Insanity = 0) Then a Muppet can begin to lose their mind once again but in a much more human way.
