The Investigators

It''s 1922, books have gone missing from the Kimball house. Stranger still in the year prior, Douglas Kimball the owner of the house had also gone missing. Thomas Kimball, the nephew of Douglas Kimball, now resides in the Kimball house and requests your assistance.

The Investigators

Post by Leonulf »

Please submit your characters here, feel free to play whatever type of 1920s characters you both like.

For attributes/skills please use the quick start rules to generate the numbers.

Please also decide in here if you want to both know each other before hand or have your characters be strangers, it will change how I introduce the story.
(If neither of you mind that's fine, I just had a couple of ideas so thought I would give you some choice :))

Appearance & Personality: Outwardly charming and urbane. Dresses neatly but not ostentatiously. Well groomed but not to the point of fastidiousness. However his mild-mannered persona hides a ruthless streak when it comes to acquiring rare books and/or making a profit.

Background: Harrison Holst's ancestors emigrated to Canada during the 19th century and quickly established themselves as noted scholars, antiquarians and artists.

As a child, Harrison continued in this family tradition, becoming something of a bibliophile during his youth. Though a passable musician, it was his taste in rare books and arcane tomes that led him to further his education in the USA, more specifically the Miskatonic University in Arkham.

Upon graduation, he swapped the Orne Library for his own modest sanctuary of learning by opening a small bookshop. It was in this role that his other family trait asserted itself - the ability to secure a profit. Soon his small business was flourishing and Harrison was ever on the look-out for another valuable grimoire.

Appearance & Personality:

John’s father is a successful lawyer and represents many important local businesses in Cheyenne. John was being groomed to follow in these footsteps but after seeing service in the army in France during the war, his priorities changed. The war also changed John’s outlook, causing him to become quiet and withdrawn. As a result, he prefers to be amongst books as opposed to people, imagining new worlds which might be better than this one.

He renewed his studies at Miskatonic after leaving the army but switched from Law to Literature. He has successfully published several short stories in the burgeoning genre of fantastic fiction, and is seeking material to begin his first novel. He supports himself by odd jobs and some allowance from his family, who are still hoping for him to return to take up the family business.

While at Miskatonic, John became interested in the occult, seeking to better himself and find material for his imagination. He studied Persian and became quite fluent in the language and the history of that area.

He is a quiet man who doesn’t make friends easily. Despite this, he is outwardly friendly and willing to lend a hand. Of average size and appearance, he doesn’t stand out in a crowd, which is how he likes it.
