On his end he could, at least. He did love Ms. Ripley. Perhaps not romantically, but he had never met one quite like her, and her spitfire nature and willingness to face the horrors they so routinely encountered made her one of the most compelling people he had ever met. When he thought of how close she had come to death in those tunnels he felt physically sick.In truth, he knew she was the person he cared for most in this world, and he would lay down his life for her without question.
