OOC,They’re about a foot to a foot and a half long (30-45cm) and around half that across. Given their size and the fact that they are greasy, it wouldn’t be easy to throw them accurately.
If you’re looking for something to use as a weapon, I’ll take a Spot Hidden roll.

Re: Ch. 10. Black Train Blues
This latest monstrosity is too much for Howard. He screams at the top of his lungs.
Re: Ch. 10. Black Train Blues
"There is trouble back there," William says to the creature as he looks for anything that might make a better weapon than his paring knife. "You are needed in the train cars. We will take the controls."

Re: Ch. 10. Black Train Blues
Howard runs at the monster, fists cartwheeling, still screaming.
Re: Ch. 10. Black Train Blues
Lawrence looks around for something a little more substantial than his knife, hopefully something that could shift the driver's attention away from Howard.

Re: Ch. 10. Black Train Blues
Steam partially obscured the cab but as William addressed the creature, he spotted a long-handled shovel, the type the engineer might use to stoke the firebox, among the maze of pipes and dials. Without loosing its hold on the levers, more eyes flickered open on the creature’s fleshy back and they studied the lawyer as if briefly contemplating what he said, until Howard’s sudden scream drew their attention away.
The eyes hardened as the young student charged in, arms windmilling, and ridges appeared in the corpulent flesh which quickly developed into muscular tentacles that emerged with a sickening ‘pop!’ and rose to meet his assault...

Re: Ch. 10. Black Train Blues
Howard swings a wild fist at the creature, but cannot connect.
Re: Ch. 10. Black Train Blues
Lawrence draws his chef's knife and charges the driver-thing, intent on slashing the creature's flabby body.
Re: Ch. 10. Black Train Blues
William grabs up the shovel and swings it at the creature.

Re: Ch. 10. Black Train Blues
Two fleshy tentacles flail wildly from the corpulent mass, flying through the air. The first sails over Howard’s head as he windmills against the creature, but the second heads straight for Lawrence, who missed with his own attack...
Re: Ch. 10. Black Train Blues
Lawrence, in a stroke of luck, sidesteps the flailing tentacle, retaliating with another attempted stab.
Re: Ch. 10. Black Train Blues
Screaming again, Howard throws himself at the creature, trying to wrestle it to the ground.
Re: Ch. 10. Black Train Blues
William takes another swing.

Re: Ch. 10. Black Train Blues
There was a throaty, gurgling noise, as if the creature laughed at their attempts to hit it, then it struck out again. One tentacle missed Howard but the second targeted Lawrence again, whistling through the air towards him...
Re: Ch. 10. Black Train Blues
Lawrence failed to avoid the blow, sent reeling by having the wind knocked out of him; infuriated by the creature's mocking "laughter", he lashed out at it with a hook punch.
Re: Ch. 10. Black Train Blues
Sobbing now, Howard can only weakly embrace the creature as the strength leaves his body.
Re: Ch. 10. Black Train Blues
William swings again.

Re: Ch. 10. Black Train Blues
The bloated flesh of the driver-creature distorted and tore as a result of Lawrence’s strike and it emitted a high-pitched keening noise that set their teeth on edge. As its two tentacles struck out again, one of the appendages that gripped the controls loosed its grip on the red-hot controls and snaked over the cord that blew the whistle at a deafening volume, as if summoning assistance from its kin on the train.
