Chapter 7a: Darkmere (Percy, Alexander & FitzWilliam)

December 1880. The characters are tasked to assist in the case of a suspected haunting by a recently murdered landowner on Dartmoor. Investigations will drag them into a confrontation with an ancient horror, and a terrible curse.

The three men leave the camp, watched by the gypsies. They see Reuben raise his hand in farewell, then disappear into a caravan.

The walk back is even worse, as a drizzle has begun to fall, and the temperature has plummeted. By the time the companions reach Bargrove Hall, they are freezing and exhausted, badly in need of rest.
