Captain FitzWilliam,I assume that FitzWilliam can see Melody? Is there a light switch in the hall? (I’m not sure if they have electric lighting, or are they still using gas?)

FitzWilliam & Melody,FitzWilliam flicks the light switch and the room is filled with light. The companions look around, but apart from the usual furniture and books, it seems to be empty. [ooc]Happy Birthday to your son![/ooc]

Isolde,Isolde, wrapped in her warm blankets, is in danger of falling asleep. But suddenly, she hears a scratching at the adjacent door which leads to the schoolroom.

Captain FitzWilliam,Captain FitzWilliam stepped carefully into the library and looked around and beneath the furniture to see if he could see what caused the crashing noise. Spot Hidden - 25% [dice]0[/dice]

isolde,Isolde starts from a near doze as she heats the scratching. Quietly she goes to the door and listens. All seems silent so, holding a candle, she opens the door quietly and looks in. (Listen roll:96%!)

Melody,[ooc]Can Melody see what caused the crash? I assume her spot hidden as she entered the library still counts?[/ooc] If [b]Melody [/b]spots anything, she points it out to the Captain.

FitzWilliam & Melody,The pair look around the library, but nothing seems to be out of place. What could have made the crash? [ooc]You can roll for Idea[/ooc]

Isolde,Isolde can see nothing out of place in the light of the flickering candle as she strains her ears to listen. Wait! Did something move in the far corner?

Alexander,Pacing around the study, Alexander happens to glance at the window and he freezes. Just for a split second, he thinks he saw the silhouette of a face at the window.

Captain FitzWilliam & Melody,[b]Captain FitzWilliam[/b] took another turn around the library. [color=#800000]”Judging by the noise,”[/color] he said to [b]Melody[/b], [color=#800000]”You would have thought that a piece of furniture had fallen over, but there’s no obvious sign.”[/color] He looked around the room again. [color=#800000]”Could it be the window shutters?”[/color] he wondered, and he went to the window to check.

FitzWilliam & Melody,The shutters are secured in place. Outside, the rain streams down.

Captain FotzWilliam,And no sign of anything being disturbed in the room?

FitzWilliam & Melody,Nothing! Could anything have been unusual when you first got to the room?

Isolde,Isolde is just about to close the door, 'Mice, most likely.' She thinks and then possibly sees something dark flit across the opposite corner. 'Maybe just a shadow from the flickering curtain' She looks to see if the curtain is moving. 'I hope it's not a rat!' She tip toes into the room to check the corner better.

FitzWilliam & Melody,The thought occurs simultaneously – the door to the library was open when they arrived. Isn’t it usually shut? As our heroes glance towards the heavy door, it begins to creak on its hinges, slowly swinging towards the closed position…

Isolde,As Isolde searches for the source of her interest in the faintly lit darkness, the windows battered by the pouring rain outside, the door to the bedroom crashes shut behind her.

Alexander,It’s difficult to see anything with the rain and the reflection from the light, but from the corner of his eye Alexander discerns some faint movement outside.

Percy,Percy has been thoroughly bored up to now on his watch, so much so that he fell asleep, fatigued with the late nights and the rich food. He awakes with a start as he realizes someone is in the room! At that moment, the door bangs shut.

Captain FitzWilliam & Melody,[color=#800000]”What on earth...?!”[/color] shouted [b]Captain FitzWilliam[/b] and he ran towards the closing door. As he ran, he snatched up a heavy book from the shelves, in order to use to prevent the door from closing.

Isolde,Isolde jumps. She quickly cups the candle in her hand to protect the flame. Her heart is pounding. 'No wonder she has nightmares; this room is frightening!" She thinks as she spins slowly round, looking about with wide eyes and her ears full of the sound of her thumping heart.
