Captain FitzWilliam turned quickly from Lady Allingham’s door. ”Howard, do you have a storm lantern? I think it would be useful to have a look outside the study window before any clues are washed away!”

“I’ll see what I can find, sir” replies Howard.
The lanterns are lit and those companions willing step out into the storm. The rain lashes their faces and they quickly soaked. In these conditions, there is little to see. The group quickly retreats back inside.
The clock chimes 2 am. Perhaps it is time to retire for the evening.
