Silver Priest wrote:Thanks. Was unexpected, for sure. Though trying to think out how someone like Marcus would know all this is considerably tricky. Not to mention amusing.
Marcus has obviously spent some time straight across Central Park from the Natural History Museum at the Met (Metropolitan Museum of Art) with its already world renowned Egyptian exhibits.

I'm not sure whether they had any 3rd Dynasty exhibits in the 1920s, but lots of the museum's famous 5th Dynasty exhibits were already there, such as the Tomb of Pernab.

@Anatomist: "believed lost" would mean "presumed to be amongst the dead" in the context of the article. (I.e. lost their lives).

Although there's very few confirmed facts in that article.

I edited my post above while you were replying, because that particular article doesn't actually confirm any details other than bodies being found.

BTW: You wrote Robert Carlyle (the actor). Erica's dead brother is Roger Carlyle. :)

If you try to decide what you'd like to do next by the end of the weekend, then I'll move on as soon as you have a plan. Since it's already evening, this will most likely mean that I move onto the morning of the 14th January.

Note that you don't need to chase down leads yet if you're happy with the information that you already have - you could spend a day doing normal things and wait for Jackson to show upon the 15th if you prefer.

Or you can thoroughly investigate the clues before he arrives. Whichever you prefer is fine. :)

One thing that I wanted to ask is about NPC images. I'm not keen to use the NPC images in the book, as not all NPCs are included and it also makes it more obvious when you meet an "official" NPC. I had planned to use photos from the start, tweaked to all be in the same style, but had some problems initially, so I skipped it for the prologue.

Now that we're onto chapter one, I wanted to ask, would you prefer NPC pics or just go with your imagination, as we did in the prologue.

If you go with pics, here is my NPC image of Michael K. Williams starring as Jackson Elias, in the style that all of my NPC images will hopefully be.

(Jackson is normally a smiley kind of guy (as is Michael Williams), but it appears that he didn't smile even once during Boardwalk Empire! lol)

I personally am up for investigating what we can. Seems like we have a few leads that could be worth pursuing before we meet with Jackson. But if the rest of us want to move on I'm equally fine with that.

I'm also fine with either option for NPC's, though personally I was not bothered by the prologue's lack of them either.

I also want to keep investigating, and I'm fine with or without NPC portraits, though I prefer to have them and I do like that one.

That's definitely not how I imagined Jackson Elias, though the one published in the source book isn't what I had in mind either. The one from the scenario is frankly terrible. :( I'm fine either way, if you use your own portraits or one that's from the scenario as long as it captures the essence of the character.

Perhaps something like this?

As for investigation, or moving forward, I won't vote to drive the story forward if others are enjoying themselves digging up clues, but Atauchi is utterly disinterested in that endeavor. He's happy to eat, sharpen his knives, smoke his pipe, and provide security. He really wants to get back into the field.

Yeah, I'm happy to keep investigating too.

As for NPC photos, I don't mind either way. So long as it doesn't make too much work for you, then by all means go for it :)

Zero, Langston Hughes makes a great Jackson Elias, thanks. :)

I wonder if they had that in mind when they chose Jesse Hughes as Jackson's undercover name.

Jackson Elias always wears a hat and a suit, so I found another image of Langston at a similar age.

Michael K Williams will certainly be back, as I had him in mind for another NPC, but I couldn't find a better Jackson Elias myself. :)

Ok. I think you're all ready to move on. Sorry I didn't manage to move you over the weekend.

Couple of quick questions:
a) Is anyone remaining in NYC? And if so, what are you looking into?
b) Where first? Carlyle House or Sing-Sing prison?

I thought we would split up into two groups, one going to the Carlyle House and the other to Sing-Sing. I want to be with the group going to Carlyle House.

Marcus would be going to prison, but he'd like to stop off at a library first and research more about the Voodoo Killer's victims. Hopefully it being fairly recent news makes that task a little easier. Though if everyone else in the group wants to push on, he'd drop this plan without objection.

I'm fine with going to the library first, and I'll help with the research.

Okay, I'll write a post today for a visit to the New York Public Library in the morning. You'll have time in the morning to research either the Harlem Voodoo Murders or the Carlyle Family. Then you'll have time in the afternoon to split up and visit both those Westchester locations.

It'll be a few hours before I can make the library post, so you can pick a subject for your library use roll and roll now, or wait for my IC post. I'll post the results in spoilers as usual, with staggered results for different success levels.
