Forum of chance - Die rolls and luck

In 1998, an underground Club and the criminal mastermind who ran it got hit by an agency that doesn´t exist. The owner of the club left US soil.
Now, 22 years later, the infamous band Charnel Dreams holds a live concert on Lexington Avenue, NYC.
Is this the return of Club Apocalypse?

Selected agents are invited to a Night at the Opera that is Club Apocalypse.

That´s better than what you could have picked in teh QSR.
To tweak them a little more, you may subtract 1 point for two of the stats. Then you can add those points where ever you like.

Funny thing is, I was manually rolling up the stats and got 18,13,15,17,11,11. My first thought was, "Yeah... Dave's going to call Bird Crap on these rolls". :D

OK, that's pretty nice rolls.

My idea for a character is:
Analyst/WMD Inspector working for ISN (Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation).
Taking the Scientist profession and the Bureaucrat background and the Hard Experience 'option'.

I take it that "Choose any eight skills (except Unnatural). Add 20% to the current or base rating of each. If a skill is not in your profession, you can increase it twice." really means that if you increase a skill twice it count as 2 skill choices?

[Edited - adding skills]
Scientist:
Bureaucracy 40%
Computer Science 40%
Science *3 @50%
Accounting 50%
Language (Arabic) 40%
Forensics 40%
Bureaucrat (modified)*
Bureaucracy +20% [60%]
Criminology +20%
HUMINT +20%
Law +20%
Persuade +20%
*Firearms +20%
*First Aid +20%
*Occult +20%

HARD EXPERIENCE
Occult +10% [40%]
History +10%
Stealth +10%
Persuade +10% [b[]50%][/b]
Search +10%

Skills not on the Scientist occupation list - get an extra 'free' bonus?

Sounds about right with two skill choices on the same skill.

So - for the avoidance of doubt - the skills in blue above - I can increase them again (as they are not in the occupation list)?

OK thanks! The QS rules aren't clear on this - but if we all do the same then I guess it doesn't matter.
*goes off the read his PDF of rules proper to make sure*

OK, the rules do suggest that doubling up (+40) uses 2 choices
EXAMPLE: To save time in choosing bonus skill points, Louis picks “Computer Enthusiast or Hacker” because he wants to go all-in with his computer skills.
That gives him +20% each in Computer Science, which brings that skill to 80%; Craft (Microelectronics), bringing that to 60%; Science (Mathematics),
bringing it to 60%; and SIGINT, bringing it to 50%. It also lets him choose any four skills to get +20% each. He picks Alertness, bringing it to 40%,
and Firearms, bringing it to 40%. He wants a much better Stealth skill so he boosts it twice, adding +40 to bring it to 50%.
In the example above stealth is boosted twice - but only 7 skills are actually increased.

Much as I'd like to increase skills some-more, it looks like we ought not to - sorry.

Dave - do you agree, with this?

Sorry, I should keep my mouth shut.

Eh, that´s what you said first, right? 8 skills to pick. If you pick one skill twice it counts as two skill picks. Thus only 7 skills get ticked.
Or am I rading your posts wrong?
