Hi Lee

I can post up a character later today or tomorrow (an FBI forensic specialist is the plan). But I notice the character skills relate to the old system, not the new skills (some of which have changed) you'll find on the recent Delta Green upgrades, including the Briefing Documents.

Do you want to run characters with the old system, or the new one? Personally I don't mind.

I don't have much free time during the week, especially on Mondays. I do have time on the weekends, but this weekend is just about over. I'm familiar with both the old and the new DG rules; I'll just need to know which system you're using before I create my character. I was thinking of playing a TSA agent.

Hello. I should have something together in the next 36 hours. Like the others, I'm familiar with the system but need steer on which version.

Sorry things are a running a bit long on that first post. I should note Brian Scott has been sent officially by the FBI to investigate the death of Jonah Washington. Everyone else expect to use the FEMA cover. Everyone else also had to get off work in some way. It is only the Agents (Q-Cell) in the back, in the front is the driver and one two other workers. They would not be able to hear what you are saying to each other so consider this the time for introduction, discussion etc

Can you give me any background as to this Jonah Washington? If my character is investigating him, it might make it difficult to work in conjunction with the others, our official priorities will be different I would think.

Spoiler:
You have been sent by Delta Green, but officially you are investigating the death for the FBI and to keep your job you should expect to do both/split from the party. Scratch the name, it is actually a John Doe (who we can call Jonah Washington) with mysterious three pronged stab wounds who was found dead in a phone booth from hypothermia and blood loss. Delta Green should be the number one priority but they did get you assigned to the other case believing it could be relevant/so you could pull badge and whatnot if necessary.
Only for HoneyDog

Special Agent Patrick Hill is your go between with Delta Green, I wouldn't say Q-Cell was assigned a leader. You don't have Skip Mills address, but in these conditions it won't be easy to get from place to place. The troop transport will take you to City Utilities which next to Earl's Rent A Space where the greenbox is located. The HQ for the relief effort is there, and it is where Brian Scott will be meeting someone from local police to get information on the case.

Let me know when you guys are ready to reach city utilities or if we can go to Skip Mills place if one of you gets the address.

To my knowledge anyone who is arrested, law enforcement and military personnel, and foreign nationals entering or transiting the US are fingerprinted.

I'm gonna go with written out scenario and go with them only checking the criminals that were fingerprinted in though more are in the database.

You guys should feel free to have a little more creative control, some things are essential to the plot but feel free to occasionally control background characters so long as it isn't anything major. I'm still getting used to forum roleplaying again but I just wanted to say I'm enjoying this so far and thank you to everyone playing.

You do need to roll to make calls but you have the radios for short-range communication, just be mindful someone could be listening on those.

Okay. It's probably best then to use phones first, and then radios second. We can select a frequency that others (e.g. police) aren't using.

If the two numbers match the hit is a crit right? Because Mike rolled I think a 22 for one of his successes earlier so the damage should be doubled.

Re: OOC Lover in the Ice

Posted: Sat Aug 12, 2017 5:03 pm
by Mr. Handy
That's right, I'd forgotten. I did get a 22 in the first round, so that is a critical. Is the damage result of the one die doubled, or do I roll it a second time?

Also, the creature got an 11 in the first round attacking me, so I'm probably dead at this point. I had planned to run back to the truck with Sarah and then run it over, but she'd already attacked in round two before I had a chance, and I couldn't leave her there. Let me know if I can still act this round, and if I can, I'll do that.

Re: OOC Lover in the Ice

Roll a second time. The creature will also [dice]0[/dice] add that to damage

Mr. Handy you are alive for now but you can make a sheet for Deputy Eli Filagree if you want, he is in Agent Scott's storyline and can be brought into Delta Green

Re: OOC Lover in the Ice

Posted: Sun Aug 13, 2017 1:54 am
by Mr. Handy
Well, that was rotten luck. I hadn't expected to go down at the outset. Even if Mike survives, he probably won't be in any condition to continue, so I'd better create the Deputy. I'll probably have time tomorrow. If I do die, it'll be my first character death since I came here ten years ago, and I've played in a lot of games since then. If I die, at least I died protecting Sarah.

Additional damage:
[dice]0[/dice]

Bad luck Mr. H! But Fillagree should be a good addition. He's seen enough weirdness so far to warrant being brought fully into the real situation.

I guess JustinHorner isn't joining us, but it's probably too late to realistically introduce his character.

Re: OOC Lover in the Ice

Posted: Sun Aug 13, 2017 4:54 am
by Mr. Handy
Is there anything I should know about him before I create the character, such as the weirdness he's seen?

Why didn't Brian get to act until now?

Re: OOC Lover in the Ice

Posted: Sun Aug 13, 2017 4:59 am

The murder victim Scott was investigating turns out to have been killed by the Mills worm (although that's only just become apparent). Fillagree attended the autopsy and heard about the strange findings (the fluid capable of changing DNA). He's presently at the morgue guarding the corpse. So he knows that something strange is going on.

Scott was at the Green Box site, he found out about the contents and where the worm came from.

Brian was in a separate plotline, and since combat takes so little time it wouldn't really have been right for him to be able to drive all the way across town in the small amount of time combat really takes. Everyone should read the notes in Scott's section, I'll post them here.

Only one box remains.
Hundreds of yellow legal pads contain failed drafts of Escaping Altimira, an unpublished novel by one-off 1960s literary star Ryan Whitehead. The paper is smeared with moisture. Sifting through the decades of drafts eventually leads to Whitehead’s initial Amazon notes (Handout B) and his eventual suicide note (Handout A). There is also an ammo box with Portuguese lettering on the side; reveals it to be Brazilian from the 1960s. The metal has been bent and crushed from the inside, where thousands of tiny scratch marks can be seen.
Here’s a summary of what can be learned from studying
the handout:
»»An unnatural thing cut from the mouth of Albert
Capchka was what escaped from GB 224.
»»The thing is from a tropical climate.
»» Sex and violence are dangerous temptations often
confused by those affected.
»»The thing in the ammo box is somehow connected
to a hooting sound in the trees.
»»Whitehead was driven to a life of reclusive madness
by the events in the Amazon.
Spoiler:
link to hand outs: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BzMCw ... FdsS3ZzZ2M you will need to probably download the file to see all the pages, I can try a different format if you want there should be 6 pages

For some reason I'd thought there were three of us in our thread all along (out of the four characters).

Thanks. I hadn't read the other thread, as I didn't know if we were allowed to read it. May I read it now?

I wasn't able to view it right from the link. Only the first page displays, and the font is fairly small. I'll probably need to download it anyway so I can zoom in on the PDF.

You can read through Scott's thread since Filagree was there for most of it. See if it works better when downloaded.

There were three but justinhorner never posted so it ended up Mike, Sarah and Scott.

Healing
There are four types of healing: Resuscitation, Stabilization,
Treatment, and Recuperation.
RESUSCITATION: Sometimes it’s possible to resuscitate
a dead character. If the Handler says resuscitation
is possible, someone must make a First Aid test.
This must occur within a number of minutes after
death equal to the victim’s CON score. If it succeeds,
it restores 1D4 HP (doubled for a critical success)
and allows the patient to recover. If First Aid fails,
the victim dies and may not be resuscitated.
STABILIZATION: Stabilizing a wounded character
with a successful First Aid test immediately heals 1D4
HP. A critical success doubles the amount healed; a
fumble inflicts 1D4 damage. Once your Agent receives
first aid, success or failure, the Agent can’t benefit
from it again until he or she suffers damage again.
TREATMENT: Treatment is medical care in a hospital
or aid station with extensive tools and medicines. A
doctor can attempt a Surgery or Medicine test once
per week: Surgery for critical care of severe wounds;
Medicine for poison, disease, and ongoing healing. If
treatment succeeds, the patient recovers 1D4 HP. This
is doubled with a critical, while a fumble inflicts 1D4
HP damage. At the Handler’s discretion, having less
extensive tools and medicines may incur a penalty.
RECUPERATION: Over time, the human body repairs
itself. A patient who rests in a safe place with proper
food and water can attempt a CON×5 test once per
day to recover 1 HP (in addition to any HP recovered
due to medical treatment).

I'm reviewing some combat rules to check some things but expect everything that has happened so far to stay canon, in the future help me remember

When your turn comes up, declare your Agent’s action—
attack, called shot, disarm, or pin—and make
the roll. Your Agent can harm, disarm or pin only one
target a turn (the attack might hurt others, but all
attacks have a single target).
A roll to attack, disarm, pin, or make a called
shot also opposes each Unarmed Combat and Melee
Weapons attack against your Agent until your Agent’s
next action. If an attack fails to overcome your roll, it
does no harm.
To oppose an attack, your Agent must know the
attack is coming. That requires seeing or hearing the
attacker. The Agent must also be physically able to
block the Attack, if it is melee. A pinned Agent can’t
defend, nor can an Agent who has already successfully
pinned a target.
An attack roll with a ranged weapon does not
oppose attack rolls against your Agent.

Zeppo:
Repressing Insanity
Sometimes it’s easier to cope with mental trauma if
you pull strength and motivation from the relationships
that give life meaning. You may attempt to
repress the blind panic of temporary insanity or an
acute episode of a disorder by spending Willpower
Points. The amount is always 1D4: roll the die and
reduce your WP by that much.
If your Agent still has at least 1 WP after spending
the 1D4, describe how a Bond might help your Agent
keep it together and reduce the Bond by that much.
Now attempt a Sanity roll. If it succeeds, your
Agent suppresses the insanity or disorder and behaves
normally.
Either way, make a note to describe later how the
Bond has strained because your Agent has taken so
much support from it.

I'm happy with it so far, and it's fine the way it is. If you want to make longer and more detailed posts, though, that's okay too.

I had been in the ambulance and didn't see the creature when the Sanity roll instructions were initially posted, and I forgot about them when I got outside. I'll roll now:
Sanity roll (current level 63) for seeing the Amante:
[dice]0[/dice]
Sanity loss for seeing the Amante:
[dice]1[/dice]
Does that mean I went temporarily insane, or do I get an Idea roll?

Re: OOC Lover in the Ice

There would have been a temporary insanity but we won't worry about that for now. You can make an idea roll and in that case I'll also let zeppo make one.

Re: OOC Lover in the Ice

Posted: Sat Sep 16, 2017 3:52 pm

I try to keep a different colour for each character. And a different colour again for their thoughts. No particular system though.

Poor Scott is about done.

Re: OOC Lover in the Ice

Posted: Sun Sep 17, 2017 3:40 am
by Mr. Handy
I've been choosing a different color for each of my characters for about ten years. It's similar to how dialogue works in the old LucasArts adventure games, with each character having a unique color. I've tried to keep all of mine unique too, but I've had some repeats. Usually I like the color to express something about the character. For instance, police officers I play are typically some shade of blue. Sarah Carpenter in Ash had a particular shade of green that matched both her eyes and the scrubs she wore, and her father Lionel Carpenter had gray to match his suit, and because he's old.

Some players just use blue for speech in general.
