"Yes, good man, there is something you can do to help us. We were informed there has been a robbery here. We are collaborating with the police as special investigators, and inspector Cleveland has asked us to reexamine the scene of crime, given our special skill set."

James hopes that the little white lie will pass unnoticed...

The attendant seems dubious. "You would need to speak to the director regarding this matter. Do you have an appointment?"

Everyone:
Spoiler:
OOC:   At least a successful Credit Rating roll will be required in order to see the director without an appointment.

Besmirched with grime from her earlier attempts to help the Professor in the street, Ann Veronica lacks the confidence to try and influence the attendant.

"I'm Diane Siddons," says Diane, hoping the attendant will recognize her name. Unfortunately, he does not seem to be a theatergoer.

Perhaps impressed by the presence of a rare visitor from across the Atlantic, the attendant directs his attention toward Mr. McKerry. "Ah, I perceive we have some interest from one of the world's other great institutions. I will inquire if the director can see you and your companions for a moment, sir."

After a short wait you are shown into the office of Dr. John R. Campbell, an impressive, scholarly figure who regards you from behind his great desk and a cloud of pipe smoke.

"I understand you are investigating last night's robbery?"

Realising that they have been granted this audience by virtue of Mr McKerry’s presence, Ambrose stands politely back well away from the foul smelling pipe smoke.

"A most embarrassing business," Dr. Campbell replies. "I would not normally discuss such matters with members of the public, you understand. But Sergeant Craig informed me this morning that you gentlemen and ladies were instrumental in recovering the stolen books from the warehouse, so I will help you if I can.

The thieves broke into the Oriental Antiquities department and took that queer cube which was being examined for the police. Fortunately no one was harmed and there was only minimal damage.

They then attempted to take something else from Manuscripts, however. One of the rare ancient texts. Luckily they were spotted by the guards at this juncture and fled without success. The thieves were said to be Chinese men, thuggish-looking. One of the guards reported noticing a tattoo upon the hand of one. A yellow dragon."

No doubt the investigators will recall the vision of the psychic Godfrey Williamson: "I see a great yellow dragon, snorting fire, bathed in blinding smoke."

Dr. Campbell produces a sketch of the image in question, which seems somehow familiar...

Ambrose ponders the sketch for a moment, doing his best to maintain his composure amongst the tobacco fumes.

Ann Veronica looks closely at the symbol, and is reminded of something.

Noting the way in which Miss Poole's eyes sparkle with intelligence, Gordon exchanges a glance with her.

"I believe we have a notion of what this portends."

Reverend Somerhayes, Miss Poole, Mr. McKerry and Miss Siddons:
Spoiler:
Didn't you see a building when you were in the Limehouse district yesterday with a yellow dragon as its symbol or name -- a restaurant or something similar?

She remembers.

“I saw this yesterday!”
she cries. “When we were in Limehouse! It was on a building, I think near that warehouse we visited.”

“Perhaps we should tell the Inspector about this. Some official support might be welcome. We know that this Tong is utterly ruthless. We could send word for him and his men to meet us there – he probably wouldn’t let us accompany him.”
