OOC,The nearest creature is about 10 meters, with its back to the fire. Rooger is on the other side.

OOC:   Just holding on Henry before proceeding. Balzac will prioritise blue flame if not yet hit, then normal fire if not yet hit, then any given fungus-bee.

"We can't fight them - only disrupt them - so get ready to run - and don't stop running ..."

Henry readys two cocktails and will fling them at the two chanting creatures if he thinks he can hit without endangering Rooger.

[Mr. Handy]

Alice hurls her first firebomb into the normal fire nearest to the creatures for all she's worth, hoping Rooger won't be caught in the blast.

OOC,Throw roll (25% base skill) throwing a firebomb at the normal fire closest to the creatures: [dice]0[/dice]

OOC,So Alice is aiming for the fire which she'll hit, what will the others aim at? Please choose your targets. evil_scientist has already rolled.

Balzac puts his rusty rugby skills to the test and aims for the weird blue flame.

While Isadora's bomb sails harmlessly over the fire to crash on the other side, Alice's lands directly in it, causing it to flare and burn more intensely.

Unfortunately, Balzac's bomb slips out of his numb fingers and rolls down the slope, causing the undergrowth behind them to burst into flames, clearly silhouetting them to the startled creatures.

Luckily, although he was aiming for the second chanter, Henry's bottle strikes the leader. It is engulfed in flame, buzzing furiously. The other creatures rush to its aid.

Rooger is shocked and furious. He runs towards the companions, gesticulating wildly.

The blue flame flickers more weakly now. It grows smaller and disappears.

[Mr. Handy]

Alice readies her second firebomb, relieved that Rooger wasn't harmed. "Now, while the creatures are all close together," she hisses.

OOC,Can we act again?

[HoneyDog]

Assisted by it's fellows, the leader seems to be recovering. Seeing Rooger rushing towards the heroes, it calls out to him urgently."Rooger! Stop! You cannot risk yourself! You are too important!"

At this command, Rooger stops, looking back uncertainly.

OOC,You can still attack as they are disorganized. It's not the only option though!"

Isadora Carmichael

Isadora is surprised to hear these creatures almost pleading Rooger to come back to them. Maybe they need a human mind for their ritual? Maybe... something even worse?

"Rooger! Don't go back to them, they want to sacrifice you!" she cries out.

[innsmouth]

Henry Glynn

"What have you done with Bartley Hodges?" demands Henry.

[Mr. Handy]

"We're not going to hurt you, Mr. Rooger," says Alice in a soothing tone. "Are those your friends back there? You mustn't go back to them. They're only using you. We came up here looking for Mr. Hodges, and one of them attacked and hurt us for no good reason."

[HoneyDog]

Rooger looks at the investigators again.

"Hodges shouldn't have come up here" he says firmly. "My friends say ain't nobody allowed !"

He is positioned between the companions and the monsters. One of them raises it's mist weapon as if to fire, but the leader buzzes angrily, and the weapon is lowered.

The leader, looking blackened and scorched, now buzzes at Rooger.

"Don't listen to them! We are your friends. Who helped create your wonderful garden?If we were to sacrifice you, we would have done so nights ago! We need your help! Ithaqua cannot be called without you! It is your destiny!"

This convinces Rooger, and he turns back towards the creatures.

Balzac looks anguished, torn between stopping the creatures and whatever they are up to, and saving Rooger. Spurred on by fear, adrenalin, cold and smelly uncomfortable clothing, he strides forward, raises his shotgun and fires the first barrel at Rooger. "I pray it just wounds him."

Attack,[i]Shotgun[/i] of 30% and he rolls... [dice]0[/dice]

OOC:   Miss unless we're at point blank range

OOC:   For absolute clarity, Balzac will shoot his second barrel at half DEX this time but I'll wait while the other PCs take their actions before I roll for second attack.

OOC,Balzac can roll Luck- he might hit something behind Rooger. Alice has another bomb and can attack with that. Henry has his rifle or a firebomb, Isadora only has a firebomb.
