Tod Guzman: room 4

It hurts – oh God it hurts. And it’s so dark. If only you can straighten your leg or move your arm...

Tod Guzman: room 4

Tod Guzman: Room 4

Mind buzzing with unanswered questions, you head for your room, unlocking the door and pushing it open. Before you is a room almost the mirror image of the one you have just left – motels huh? Atop the roughly made bed rests a laptop the lid open but the screen blank. Near it lies several audio tapes lying as if discarded. Even from the doorway you can see that the packaging has been opened showing they have been used. For a brief moment you gaze towards the open closet as if in expectation of seeing some sort of camera equipment there. However other than a few items of hanging clothing and an old, battered suitcase, that even from here looks as though it had seen better days, the closet looks empty.

The bed looks inviting and seems to call to your aching limbs, however the tapes and the laptop look intriguing...

Todd Guzman

Knowing he won't be able to settle with possible answers so near, Todd starts up the laptop and looks around the room for something to play the tapes on.

Rummaging around the room doesn’t unearth any machinery capable of accessing the audio tapes. But it does allow the laptop a few minutes warm up before the start up screen, which shows the smiling face of a young woman who you instantly recognise as Maria, but cannot place who she is or why you know her before a familiar demand for a password is displayed. Your mind screams ‘esoteric’ at you. With a shrug you type the eight letters into the box and the screen duly comes to life.
Several folder drop down, several bearing the same titles as seen on Lyn’s laptop – previous cases. One of the folders is tiled ‘Cooper House’ and contains video footage. Silent ‘B-Roll’ footage showing the outside of a house and various footage of a town, cornfields and woods. There is nothing to identify the footage, but you get the feeling that this is the Cooper House, Clio and the surrounding area. In fact something tells you that this is your work, and there is a familiarity to each location.
The footage is about three hours long, three tedious hours long, but it is the outside of the house that attracts your attention;

Suddenly you are inside a dark room, there is no light and therefore you are effectively blind. However, something tells you that you are not alone, you hear a voice –Rutiger,
“Where the hell are we? Guzman turn the damned camera on and use its light”
You fumble in the pitch black in search of your camera. Nothing, it has gone. Suddenly you hear a loud voice that seems to come from everywhere and nowhere at once,

“Do you want to live?"
As the voice fades the screaming begins...

Your mind snaps back to the room, the video has finished...

Todd blinks then shuts off the laptop. "Cooper House..." he mutters before climbing into bed and trying to forget the screams...

Sleep does not come easy, even though you feel exhausted. Every time you close your eyes you can hear the screaming. But eventually sheer exhaustion overcomes all and you pass the rest of the night in sleep. Not a totally restful sleep, but sleep all the same. When next you wake, your wrist watch is saying it is 07:16 and the date is showing the 18th.
OOC:   When you are ready please move to 3. Now where were we.
