Gracie Gunn: room 7

A few seconds after Karl has left the room, Gracie follows tiredness and bruises taking their toll. The door marked ‘7’ opens to your key to reveal a room that is almost the mirror image of Lyn’s room. The closet door is open revealing a lot of clothing wrapped in plastic protectors and several suitcases stacked on its floor. On you bed rests a neatly folded t-shirt, black with some kind of logo displayed on the left breast.
Beside the neatly made bed a shiny laptop rests on the bedside table. On the long mirrored chest of drawers you are confronted by a large amount of make-up, far too much for one person’s use. Several magazines have been stacked beside a bed that looks so inviting...

As exhausted as she is, Gracie is still curious about who she is, so she takes a little time to turn on the laptop. While she waits for it to boot up, she temporarily unfolds the T-shirt to examine the logo and looks through the stack of magazines to see which ones they are.

The laptop boots up and demands a password, but nothing seems to suggest it self.
The stack of magazines seem to be a mixture of fashion, makeup and movie stuff.
The T-shirt looks like the ones worn in the collage of photos on Lyn’s laptop. Short sleeves, black with the logo TSF printed on the left breast.
A quick look through the clothes reveals that there is a mixture of male and female outfits, for the main in two distinct sizes, neither of which is yours. Likewise the makeup looks to be more the kind a production company would use rather than just a collection of street beauty products. In fact there is a lipstick shade of red, that you just know you wouldn’t wear.

Exhaustion eventually overcomes your resolve and you drift into a deep, but disturbing, sleep;

You are walking towards a medical clinic and see a small but vocal crowd denouncing abortions outside of it. Suddenly the protesters turn towards you and look on in horror at your swollen belly and scream “Quickly! Go in and get rid of them!” You enter the clinic and take a seat, noticingthat pregnant men as well as women are present in this room, each awaiting their turn to enter the private rooms. At that moment you can feel movement in your distended belly. It is not the kick of a growing fetus, but a scuttling, scurrying sensation. Like a stomach full of worms or maggots.

Your eyes open with a start and for a brief moment you are sure you can actually feel something moving inside you. Then the feeling is gone and you realise it was no more than a nightmare. Your wrist watch shows 07:13 the 17th September...

Gracie gets out of bed and makes sure the laptop is plugged in so that it can recharge. Then she showers and gets dressed, putting on the T-shirt, before heading out to join the others for breakfast.
