You part ways with the others and walk back along the docks, past the submarine and the other two empty spaces. The water is black as oil, and remains dark even when your flashlights sweep over it. It's completely still, suggesting there might be a bulkhead acting as a barrier from the open ocean currents. Wherever it might be, though, is beyond the range of your flashlights. Finally you walk past the last empty dock and turn to your left to proceed along the wall. You meet another sealed blast door, and shortly after that, a steel door that can be opened. Sgt. Dowson-Frost walks to it, turning the wheel as he says: "Weapons ready, gentlemen. This damn place looks empty, but better safe than sorry, as they say".

Smalls stands a couple of meters away from the door, right in front of it, M1919 in hand. He waves at Tom, pointing at the door. "Tom, take the flank." He nods at Dowson-Frost.

The door opens up to reveal another corridor ahead. Sgt. Dowson-Frost sneers as he says: "Well, the jerrys here liked digging, huh?". After making sure there's no sound coming up from the other end, you start walking, weapons at the ready. This corridor is slightly downhill, gray and squared. The air gets stagnant down here, although still breathable. Once again you feel like you're entering a tomb, and a vague sensation surfaces on your mind: you shouldn't be here.
The corridor turns left to reveal a second door. You focus on the task at hand, gathering around the door as Sgt. Dowson-Frost turns the wheel and you rush in, ready for anything... but it's just another empty room. Empty... except for a large diesel generator, probably large enough to power up the whole base - if only it was working.

"Anybody think they can get this started?"

Tom examines the generator to see if he can make head or tail of it...

"Wait... I think I got it."

There are some tools on the floor nearby the generator - a hammer, a screwdriver, etc. Smalls grabs them and tinkers around for a couple of minutes. Finally, the generator comes back to life, and the lights along with it.

You hear a screeching metallic sound from the direction of the docks, and a thundering clash of steel against steel. Then, again, silence wraps up the base.

Dowson-Frost turns off the flashlight as he says: "Well, this will make things easier. Looks like something happened, with the power being back up. Shall we go and check that out?"

Smalls Kemp

Smalls gets up, cleaning his hands from the grease and dust accumulated on the generator. "I bet the blast doors are working now. Let's go."

Tom Major

"Let's take it steady though. We might have alerted someone to our presence."

Tom readies his machine gun and makes his way back out through the door, secretly hoping for an opportunity to try out the Panzerfaust

You walk back through the corridor to the docks area, weapons ready. There's light now, and this means you don't have to rely on the flickering lights of the flashlights. Once you pass through the steel hatch and head back into the docks area, you can now see the vast area in its entirety. All three docks are empty, and there's no trace of movement. Only on your right, where the exit for the submarines should be located, there are no lights, and darkness still shrouds everything. Still, most of the eeriness is gone, dispelled by the bright electrical light. As you walk on docks, your footsteps echoing in the silence, looking at the large structures over your heads, derricks and gantries, you only feel a creeping sense of loneliness, even melancholy maybe. This place is dead and it should be left to rest in peace, you can't help but think.

But you still have a job to do, before you can leave. You stop in front of a large blast door you walked next to before reaching the door for the power room. The door is still closed, but it looks like the control panel can now be operated.

Tom examines the control panel and attempts to open the blast door.

"Weapons ready chaps.."

There's only two buttons on the control panel, so it's not hard to figure out which one is the "open" button. The blast door opens with a grinding metallic noise that seems to echoes forever in the empty docks area. Dowson-Frost looks around nervously, moving his weapon up and down as he scouts the surrounding area. Still, there's no movement whatsoever, and a few seconds later, the door is completely open, revealing another corridor. After maybe 8 or 10 meters, right in front of you, there's a closed door, a simple wooden door this time. The corridor then turns right and continues past the door.

Tom listens at the wooden door..
He can't hear anything so he carefully tries to push or pull the door open, indicating to the others to cover him.

As you get close to the door, you can now see the corridor proceeding on your right for about ten meters, where it ends with a closed blast door. After the corridor turns to the right, there's another wooden door, on the right wall, closed. Again, you can't see or hear anything strange. So you slowly push open the door in front of you.

At first, you're surprised to see blackened walls, instead of the usual gray. Then you realize it's not an aesthetic choice: there are charred cabinet files lining the walls, and shards of what's left of tables and chairs, burned down. But there's something more horrible that immediately catches your eyes: there's a body dangling down from an air vent. It's the upper part of a human torso, swaying lightly, as if someone hung him head down.

Spot Hidden,There are horrible wounds on the body, that were certainly lethal.

Tom Major

With one eye on the body, Tom looks to see if he can find any useful information that has survived in the cabinets.

Whether or not he finds anything, he also has a look to see if he can determine what caused the lethal wounds.

Smalls Kemp

"Good God..." Smalls whispers while approaching the body, trying to see how is it hanging from there, machine gun in hand.

As you walk close, the corpse's eyes open widely, and it lets out a groan. Then it stands still for a long, horrible moment, its white eyes seemingly fixed on you; before being yanked upwards inside the vent. You can hear thumps and bangs coming from inside the vent, as if being dragged away rapidly. "Fuck!", you hear Dowson-Frost screaming, his gun pointing towards the vent now, shaking slightly.

Tom Major Tom blinks, wondering if his mind is playing tricks.

"Jesus! Stay away from the vent!"

"What the hell?!?!"

After the thumping from inside the vent fades, silence shrouds you again. Except this time, it feels ominous. You can't shake the feeling someone's watching you, from behind your back. You're not alone in the base, that much is clear.

"Jesus Christ! We need to warn the others. Fuck. Can't ever get easy, this fucking war, can it?", Dowson-Frost half says, half screams. "I don't know about you guys, but I'd like to be out of here sooner rather than later. I'll keep an eye on the vent, take a look around, see if there's something we can use".

Tom nervously continues his search of the cabinets. He then makes his way back out & down the corridor to the other door (not the blast door), where he listens closely for any noise.

He nods at Dowson-Frost. "I can't agree with you more. Let's sweep this side of the base and get back to the others as quick as we can. Don't go too far on your own, Tom." He says, as he sees Tom leaving the room. Smalls then proceeds to examine the room.

Tom searches the cabinets quickly, but whatever document might once have been here, has been burnt away by the large fire that ravaged the room. Seeing that the research is fruitless, Tom heads out to the second door in the corridor, straining to hear anything from the other side - but there's only silence.

Smalls is more lucky. Checking out the mess in the center of the room, where once was a large table, he finds rests of electric components and machinery - cutting edge technology, destroyed now. As for their original use, that's not something easily understood.
Moreover, while double checking the cabinets, he looks through a ruined section to discover that there's something hidden behind. Quickly moving them out of the way, Smalls reveals another wooden door, half burned and looking ready to collapse.

Analyzing the components: successful Comptography or Cryptography or Espionage roll,These pieces must have belonged to an Enigma machine. Unfortunately, it's broken beyond repair.

Tom heads back to the room. "Find anything? Seems all quiet out there."

As soon as Tom enters the room, he hears a sound of footsteps coming from the corridor behind his back. Turning in a hurry, weapon ready, he sees Oliver and Amadeus walking towards him. The lights flicker for a moment, then come back to life.

"We're not alone in this place," says Oliver. "There was someone hiding in the air vent, wounded. He crawled away, and Nick's gone in after them. Stogie's waiting below the vent entrance for him."

Smalls Kemp

"Fellas, we have another door here!"

As he sees Oliver and Amadeus he can't help feeling a little relieved. "We saw something too. A dead body... pretty beat up, hanging from the vent. Then all of a sudden something drag it up and run inside the vent. Wait... Nick's on his own? Reckless bastard. Let's hurry things up here.We don't know how many are they."

"Right, let's keep well away from the vents if we can," says Oliver, "and keep an eye on them. What have you found? I see you got the electrics running."

Tom Major

"Looks like Smalls has found another door. Let's check it out."
Tom heads towards the door then stops. "On the other hand, maybe we should try and see if Nick is ok? The vents don't seem like a safe place to be."

"How can we do that?" asks Oliver. "By now he could have gotten anywhere, though I guess someone could follow the blood trail of the wounded guy. Stogie wasn't able to climb up there himself, but Nick made it because he's a good climber. I don't know if anyone else could manage it, and even then, we'd just be putting someone else in danger."

The lights go out again, and this time they stay out.

Oliver lights his torch. "Right, let's get to the generator and get it working again," says Oliver. "It's possible that one of those chaps in the vents is responsible, so proceed with caution."

Tom Major

"Follow me, it's this way."
Tom carefully leads the way back to the generator room, machine gun at the ready.

"What are the Jerries doing in the vents anyway? Something's not right."
