Character Creation

March, 1945: the forces of the Axis are falling back on all fronts. After half a decade of bloodshed and destruction, the end of the war is finally approaching. Yet, unknown to the Allies, the enemy has one more ace up their sleeve. A routine investigation of an abandoned submarine base leads to the discovery of a massive Nazi secret operation in Antarctica. As the Allies gather whatever forces they can divert to this new front of the war, a desperate race against time begins in the heart of the frozen continent, one last clash under the shadow of the Mountains of Madness to thwart this final plot of horror and madness.

Is Boffin still open? I'll take that if it is.

I'd say that's a nice role for a parapyschologist. I'm excited to get into character creation now.

Hello there, I haven't seen you in the recruitment topic, but you're welcome to jump in.

There would be room for a Boffin, although all in all I would suggest a more combat-oriented character, as the group seems to be lacking in firepower. Still, pick what you prefer ;)

Well, those are not terrible, but also not good, rolls. Still, you can play the SOE operative. You can build around them some nice background, too ;)

Looks fine to me ;)

I would like for each of you to define:
1) a reason for fighting
2) what your character hopes to do once the war is over

Decided to go with a Sniper, may or may not do a bit of tinkering on the side. Question, should I use the skills for the Sniper occupation in the Achtung Cthulhu book, or the skill list for the Soldier occupation in Sixth?

You need high education and low size, and that's fine. You'd need a 12 in Constitution, but just put the 11 there and it's gonna be ok. You can check the AC Investigator Guide, page 73.

The skill list for the Sniper. Do you have the Achtung Cthulhu Investigator's Guide? Otherwise I'll post it here.

I'm adding two lines to Stogie's background to answer this.

Appearance & Personality: Of average height, black hair and blue eyes, with a slightly dark complexion (it is rumored, though not known for sure by the family, that the old servant Marie was actually William's mother). Has an unsightly scar running the length of the right side of his face where he was bashed in the face by the butt of a German rifle. Almost always reading or writing in his downtime. He has a journal he keeps faithfully as often as possible. Other soldiers in his unit gave him the nickname "Cajun" because of his extremely thick Southern accent, at first he clarified for them that he was not a Cajun, but now he just doesn't mind anymore. After the war, he just wants to get back home and marry his girlfriend Diana. They've talked about moving to New Orleans.
Background: Nicholas Laplanche was born near New Orleans on September 9, 1921 to a family that had seen better days. The Laplanches lived in a run-down plantation near Belle Chasse, many of the servants having left during the Reconstruction. By the 1900s, only one, an old woman named Marie who became Nicholas' nanny when he was born, was left. A studious boy relatively isolated in his home, he read vociferously nearly all the volumes in the library and many from the libraries in New Orleans. The Laplanches continued to live on their plantation until 1937. In that year, Nicholas' father William had to sell off the plantation which still sits abandoned in Belle Chasse, and the family moved into town. After the United States entered the war in late 1941, Laplanche was incensed; and by mid-1942 he had enlisted.
Family Members: William (father, age 42), Maude (mother, age 36), Cecile (sister, age 17), Sam (brother, age 9). There is also Diana Thibodeaux (22), Nicholas' girlfriend.

Yes, you can select a reasonable equipment and assign it to your character.
