So, welcome everyone :D I'll start adding some of the stuff needed for character creation, then we'll start discussing your investigators. Hope we can have a great time together in Antarctica :D

Chaps, I'm guessing from the adventure title that this might be obliquely pertinent. BBC Radio 7 (now 4 Extra) did a lovely audio version of At The Mountains Of Madness read by Richard Coyle a few years ago. Not a full cast radio play, but a reading with some audio SFX. Quite entertaining for the daily commute or just relaxing late at night. I know the whole thing is on youtube if nowhere else. - Andy

I must have listened to this about 10 times. Great production & very atmospheric.

Hey guys, sorry my posts have been light recently. Work went utterly crazy. Sorry about that but I'll be more present coming up.

Likewise, sorry about being absent for a few days, I had to go in to the hospital for emergency surgery the 22nd. I'm back at home now though.

Do we want to give some consideration to how the team might operate best in the field? I assume after two days in a smelly plane together, they have some idea of each other's martial strengths. Do we want to have that chat IC or just discuss it here OOC?

I agree that we'd certainly know a bit about each other. Amadeus is certainly not accustomed to fighting. He can shoot, since he is an ameteur bird hunter, but he hasn't been tested in the field. This of course makes his inclusion all the more conspicuous.

I was thinking about this also. Are we going in like Inglourius Basterds / Wild Geese? Being a military operation, who's in charge? Presumably the highest rank?
This seems the best place to me to discuss such matters but I'll go with the flow.

That's a good question. Going by rank would be the obvious answer. I'm a captain, which is the highest rank here, but so is Captain Kemp. There's also the issue of this being a joint US/UK mission, with an Austrian exile civilian along as well. American soldiers would probably bristle at being under British command. However, one captain is British and one is American. I'd be willing to be second in command to Captain Kemp if he wants to be in charge of the operation.

I think you two should have a fistfight for it, lol. ;)

Regarding that, technically the man in charge would be selected from HQ. It sort of slipped my mind though, sorry about that :D

Obviously, it should be a captain, but I'd like you to decide. Then we'll assume it was written on your orders or something like that.

Happy for either Cap to be in charge. Both are specialist officers so not really fussed. Who's in the best position to post most regularly? In the RW, seems to me commando units always operate on a slightly more democratic basis most of the time anyway.

On formation in the field, it might be wise to keep the specialists, like our doc and civvie, in a protected position in the middle or at the back? We probably want them alive longer.

Stogie as Airborne is shock troops so he's happy to be front and centre in the thick of it. I guess Cajun as a sniper, Tom as an SOE type, and Smalls as a fighter pilot are going to be varyingly in the thick of it too.

Based on my character bio, Amadeus would know that he's not in charge since he's out of his element. However, he probably isn't used to taking orders so strictly. I don't think this would cause outright conflict but definitely some ruffled bristles. That's kind of already happened, which I love by the way. Adds a lot of nuance.

My character is airborne too, though as a medic he tends to stay out of the action.

I can usually only post once per day, during a brief window of time.
