So, welcome everyone
I'll start adding some of the stuff needed for character creation, then we'll start discussing your investigators. Hope we can have a great time together in Antarctica

Chaps, I'm guessing from the adventure title that this might be obliquely pertinent. BBC Radio 7 (now 4 Extra) did a lovely audio version of At The Mountains Of Madness read by Richard Coyle a few years ago. Not a full cast radio play, but a reading with some audio SFX. Quite entertaining for the daily commute or just relaxing late at night. I know the whole thing is on youtube if nowhere else. - Andy

I must have listened to this about 10 times. Great production & very atmospheric.

Do we want to give some consideration to how the team might operate best in the field? I assume after two days in a smelly plane together, they have some idea of each other's martial strengths. Do we want to have that chat IC or just discuss it here OOC?

I agree that we'd certainly know a bit about each other. Amadeus is certainly not accustomed to fighting. He can shoot, since he is an ameteur bird hunter, but he hasn't been tested in the field. This of course makes his inclusion all the more conspicuous.

I was thinking about this also. Are we going in like Inglourius Basterds / Wild Geese? Being a military operation, who's in charge? Presumably the highest rank?
This seems the best place to me to discuss such matters but I'll go with the flow.
Re: OOC Chat

by Mr. Handy
That's a good question. Going by rank would be the obvious answer. I'm a captain, which is the highest rank here, but so is Captain Kemp. There's also the issue of this being a joint US/UK mission, with an Austrian exile civilian along as well. American soldiers would probably bristle at being under British command. However, one captain is British and one is American. I'd be willing to be second in command to Captain Kemp if he wants to be in charge of the operation.

Regarding that, technically the man in charge would be selected from HQ. It sort of slipped my mind though, sorry about that
Obviously, it should be a captain, but I'd like you to decide. Then we'll assume it was written on your orders or something like that.

Happy for either Cap to be in charge. Both are specialist officers so not really fussed. Who's in the best position to post most regularly? In the RW, seems to me commando units always operate on a slightly more democratic basis most of the time anyway.
On formation in the field, it might be wise to keep the specialists, like our doc and civvie, in a protected position in the middle or at the back? We probably want them alive longer.
Stogie as Airborne is shock troops so he's happy to be front and centre in the thick of it. I guess Cajun as a sniper, Tom as an SOE type, and Smalls as a fighter pilot are going to be varyingly in the thick of it too.

Based on my character bio, Amadeus would know that he's not in charge since he's out of his element. However, he probably isn't used to taking orders so strictly. I don't think this would cause outright conflict but definitely some ruffled bristles. That's kind of already happened, which I love by the way. Adds a lot of nuance.

My character is airborne too, though as a medic he tends to stay out of the action.
I can usually only post once per day, during a brief window of time.

For history flow sake I agree that the most frequent poster to be in charge would make sense. Mr. Handy posts a lot more than me. Now, regarding military accuracy, americans probably would be willing to listen to Kemp, and english fellas to his own captain. Maybe both should be in charge? Do you have any military experience, Mr. Handy? I don't.
Re: OOC Chat

by Mr. Handy
I don't either. All of my military knowledge comes from reading, watching TV shows and movies, and playing games. I can be in charge of the British troops while you're in charge of the Yanks, but one of us needs to be in ultimate command of the mission. I'm used to being in games where other players post during the day when I can't, so once per day doesn't seem like all that often to me, but if it's more often than you post, I guess it should be me.

Obviously, it wouldn't make sense for my character to be in charge but I figured I'd share my availability all the same:
I can post at least once a day, sometimes more. Work can get sporadic with periods of little to do and be swamped the next day... life of a teacher. So my posts may be a bit all over the place.

Updated the base map. leonardolad and Mr. ginge are next to the blast door near the power room. The rest of the group is in the barracks.
I feel we might have lost a player or two. That is unfortunately standard routine, and I'll see if I can find replacement players once you complete this first section. There are at least 4 players still active, so there should be no problem

Great
At the moment there's only
Amadeus open, as i think the others should more or less be still active. Alternatively, you could pick up the NPC, Sergeant Dowson-Frost, which would allow you to sort of make it from scratch. In any case, once the prologue is over, you might choose to create a new character without any limitation.

I'm fine with taking over Amadeus, I've recently RP-ed a psychiatrist, might as well put a fresh 'spin' on it.

For the Panzerfaust 60 you roll on Heavy Weapons. It deals 4d8 damage with AP 17. Range is 12/24/48.

No, I am here. Sorry, I am still learning to navigate the forum, and I did not notice the new post at first. I'll try to post today.
I did not specify Andreas' rank. Achtung had a lot of rules for it, but since we used plain 6th I let it be. What should I assume?

I think we have lost the new players, haven't we? Not sure if I should try to find someone else before we even move on with the second chapter. I could NPC the characters, but it would be troublesome, and this is not a campaign that can be played with 2 players.

If the new players aren't responding to posts or PMs, I think it might be a good idea to try to recruit additional players.

Hello everyone, sorry for the long time without posting. I've been considering how to handle things with this campaign. The truth is I've been quite swamped with things to do in real life, and I don't have much time to dedicate to this hobby of RPG by forum. Plus, I'm following two campaigns on this forum, and it's more than I can handle right now. So, I decided I'm going to focus on the other one, as it's been going on for longer and I'm more invested on it (along with the players), and I'm going to shut this one down. Sorry to everyone who played and hoped to keep it going. I think this is for the best though.

I'm sorry to see this end too, but I understand. I know how hard it is to run multiple games at once. When you're ready and you're sure everyone has had a chance to see this, let me know by posting here and I'll move it to the Graveyard. We can always bring it back later if you ever have time in the future.
