5:05 PM - Monday, September 9, 1940

Brook slipped away around the corner to the front of the sanitarium, leaving everyone else to wait for Anna to let them inside.

OOC,If anyone else does want to go with [b]Brook[/b], please let me know, and I'll put you in her thread instead.

Eugene waits, feeling wretched as Brook walks away. He hates the idea of leaving the young lady to follow that evil witch on her own, but knows that she stands a better chance of being undetected without him blundering around.

A few minutes later, Anna opened a side door from the inside and waved for everyone to enter.

[Pastiche]

"Ok, the game is on! Let's go inside!" whispered Benjamin excitedly.

[Turstrigo]

"Let's hope our effort pays off." Eddie mutters as he goes inside.

"Yes, yes indeed."

Casting nervous glances around, Eugene follows everyone else.

"I really hope Brook will be ok," whispers Elizabeth to Story as they head inside. "I know she knows what she's doing, but still ..." She shakes her head, no point worrying unduly. Things to deal with here now.

Story watches Brook walk off and replies to Elizabeth, "She's a smart one. If there's one thing our time together has shown me, it is that each of you are quite capable." He smiles and follows her in.

Everyone came inside to the ambulance bay, and Anna shut the door behind them. "I guess we just have to wait until something happens," she said. "Unless anyone has a better idea?"

[Shelfunit]

"Maybe we should post look outs, covering the entrances?" Suggested Charles "Or at least the entrances, or approaches to the area we are covering...

"Good idea," Eugene concurs, positioning himself by the nearest entrance as unobtrusively as possible.

[Mr. Handy]

The nearest entrance was the ambulance bay, so Eugene took up his post there. Charles watched the front entrance. After about an hour, Anna came and gathered everyone together in her office. The desk phone was off the hook. "Brook's on the line," she said. "She and Phyllis followed Madeline to her house near Queensway."

"Back to her lair... Shall we go and confront her?"

[Mr. Handy]

"If we do that," said Maggie, "we'll be on the wrong side of the law, and we don't know who's with her. Still, I don't have any better ideas."

[Turstrigo]

"More splitting up doesn't sound like a good idea to me. Besides, with us gone, the sanitarium would be left wide open for the rest of her family."

"That's a valid point. We know they're looking to attack Elizabeth after all."

[Mr. Handy]

"If you really want to go after them, I could come with you," suggested Anna. "But what about the staff and the patients? Would they be in danger?"

Hearing Anna's suggestion, Story says, "Yes, yes... Anna should come with us. As far as the staff and patients, perhaps phone in an anonymous threat? With all the commotion and the authorities about I would be very surprised if anyone attempted anything."

"You seem to know more about this business than anyone else," Eugene tells Story, "I'll follow your lead."

Story looks at Eugene and smiles, "I typically just stumble through things. It's the only way to truly enjoy life."
