Just as Benjamin and Eugene were about to leave, Archie returned to the church, followed shortly by John.

Archie gives all a genial wave but then looks more attentive. "Actually, I wanted to speak to you, Eugene and anyone else who saw that poor girl last night. I've spoken to a second Luftwaffe POW who pretty much corroborated the first man's story about being attacked by an animal. What if that same animal was responsible for the girl's death?"

"That would be a scary prospect indeed...." Benjamin grows pensive. "But what kind of animal could it be? I have a hard time believing that feral dogs or escaped zoo animals would fly up and attack an airplane..."

John re-adjust his uniform and then looks around at the other men with a sly grin.
'If it's one of ours, my clearance isn't high enough to know.'

Archie shakes his head. "I don't think it's any weapon of ours, nor the Luftwaffe apparently. Some other German plan gone wrong? The Russians?"
"Whatever the case, I want to gather more information to put to Naval Intelligence. Who else saw the victim? That professor chap, did he have any insight into it? Do you know where they are now?"
Absently he adds, "Second Luftwaffe chap is in hospital, broken leg."

"Nothing of note happened here. We attended the reverent's service, but that's about it. Anna seems to have slipped out mid-service, though. We don't know why or where she went"
