The Zero Room - OOC Chat Thread

London, 1940: The world is engulfed in the flames of war, and now the war has come to Great Britain's capital. German bombers rain death and destruction upon the blacked-out city, but what other terrors lurk unseen in the darkness? The Time Lord, his companions, and a handful of London's inhabitants doing their bit may be the only ones who can avert disaster.

This is Classic Doctor Who meets Call of Cthulhu, the fifth of a series of connected adventures set in different eras and locations that includes The Terror Out of Time, The Ninth Planet, The Shadow Over Dunwich, and The Brotherhood of Death.

That does look good. It will probably air on BBC America or PBS eventually, but even if it doesn't, I can probably still buy the video on BBC America's online shop.

Apologies if I’m a little slower in posting at the moment. I’ve just got a new job and the learning curve is extremely steep! I’ll do my best to keep up and hope my middle-aged brain cells hold out :D

Forgive my ignorance, still getting used to this forum process. Is the church team waiting a bit for the sanitorium team to level up in time? No problem if that's the case, I just want to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong.

Sure, no problem. I haven't had much time lately myself anyway.

One group was waiting for the other to catch up, but I was actually ready a few days ago to merge the threads. However, I didn't have time for various reasons, and my desktop computer died. I'm on my laptop now, which is taking me longer. I should be able to update now.

No worries. I was more concerned I was doing something wrong.

Sorry, been out of touch for the last week. Cor things are hotting up!

I'm going to be travelling in the next couple of weeks, and may have intermittent Internet access. I'll try to keep in touch (better than now!), but if a response is needed in a timely manner from Elizabeth, or a roll etc., Mr Handy can you do this for me if I don't?

Thanks.

Re: The Zero Room - OOC Chat Thread

I hope this doesn't sound nit-picky - or maybe something already covered that I should have read - but is there a reason why Major Steadman has an Army rank and not an RAF rank? The equivalent rank in the RAF to Major is Squadron Leader.

If this is just "one of those things", possible reasons could include his being seconded from the army or a temporary transfer from the US Army Air Corps.

Addendum: I should add, my question is entirely because I'm not sure if this is relevant to the story. If it is relevant, matters of rank would be something Archie is aware of. If it's not relevant, disregard my pedantic ponderings.

The actual reason is that I was ignorant of exactly what the RAF ranks were all called. We'll just say that the in-game reason is that he was seconded from the Army.

Is he a pilot? If so maybe he's a Royal Artillery Air Observation Post pilot. I don't think the Army Air Corp existed in 1940.

He is a pilot, and he's British, not American. He could have been Royal Artillery Air Observation Post pilot before, but he's currently based at Biggin Hill and had been flying in the Battle of Britain until he was shot down in August and lost his leg.

Just googled the Royal Artillery Air Observation Post, had no idea it existed. Very interesting.

The dice clearly hate us this week.

Traditionally, I like to train my dice by having them rest with the desired number facing "up", so the heavy molecules sink to the bottom of each die. An accepted scientific method. Bit hard to do with virtual dice though.

With Eugene out of action, now is a good time for me to drop out of the game. My new job’s keeping me very busy and I can no longer commit to running so many characters. I’ve enjoyed this very much though and will watch with interest!

Thank you, and I understand. I've just found a new player, NerdThing, who can take over Eugene.

I'm planning to move things forward and split the thread soon. I've been waiting for one player to return and post, but I'll go ahead anyway and just assume the character stays put if there's no post by the weekend.

Thank you. Merry Christmas!

Tonight BBC America is airing the new animated version of The Macra Terror, which I'm really looking forward to seeing. It's been out for most of a year in Region 2, but it's not even available for preorder yet in Region 1. They were probably delaying that until after it aired, so hopefully it'll be out soon.
