"Let's head back to the palace then and make a plan for tomorrow. At least, if all else fails, you can audition as a palace chef then Artemis, with your new-found knowledge!" Caelia smiles at the soldier and then returns her thoughts to the strange evening she's had.

"The palace sounds like a good plan," agrees Elizabeth. "And our friends Story and Brook are expecting to meet us there. Perhaps they have new leads."

Artemis laughed at Caelia's joke and smiled as he remembered the sights and smells of the kitchen. He continued to look up at the stars as the chariot headed onward.

It was about an hour past midnight by the time the chariot returned to Cleopatra's palace. The servants opened the gate for them to allow them entry, and Spurius returned the chariot to the stables. Adelphus was still waiting up for them upon their return to the antechamber. "Welcome, friends," he said. "Have you made any progress in your investigations?"

Caelia looked to her friends before replying, "Good Evening Adelphus. Nothing concrete from me I'm afraid. I may have learned something about the brotherhood but it may not help us tomorrow."

"While enjoyed my visit to what was akin to an Egyptian nobleman's home in Rome, I simply learned how to make a remarkable meath dish, nothing else." Artemis added with a shrug.

"Well, all hope is not yet lost," said Adelphus. "Your other friends have not yet returned, so perhaps they found something of interest. In the morning, I shall go to the Forum and make one last effort to warn Caesar before it is too late."

"Well then maybe we can rest somewhere nearby and await the others?" Artemis yawned and then shook his head.

"There are guest chambers prepared for your use," said Adelphus. "The servants will show you the way."

"Thank you," says Elizabeth, smiling, and relieved to have a pause in proceedings, though she knows worse is yet to come, one way or another.

"Then let's all take a bit of rest until the others return or morning comes. We need some clue that can help us save the General." Artemis said.

Just as they were about to leave, Story, Brook, and a young man they didn't know entered the antechamber.
