  • Bad Vibrations

    1977, Owens Valley, California

Gigantic antennas and dishes rise above the barren, almost otherworldly landscape. Welcome to the Owens Valley Radio Observatory, a place of meticulous research and scientific progress. However, lately this bastion of rational thought has become a target of New Age pilgrimage. Hippies from all over the state flock to the valley, camp around the radio dishes, smoke, play drums. They don't have a leader, they don't have any goals. But the Investigators are concerned. Some of them have first-hand experience of "peaceful" hippie communes turning bad. Already there are rumors of injuries, and bad drugs and weird ideas circulating in the camp. Nobody wants a new Manson family or another Salton Sea Cult Mass Suicide. It's time to visit Owens Valley.

Scenario info: Bad Vibrations is a re-titled and modified scenario from the Cthulhu Now collection The Stars Are Right!: if you played or ran it, I'm sure you can recognize it (the radio observatory as the main location).

Continuity: This scenario is a follow-up to On the Precipice.

Players: Mr. Handy and aine will be reprising their roles as Julie and Nat. We are looking for 1 or 2 additional players - you are welcome to join!
    • Character options:
      • Play as Elizabeth Sandoval: the girl who was rescued from the clutches of an evil cult as the result of On the Precipice! She already has established connections with the other Investigators (her rescuers) and a grudge against brainwashing cults. As a player character, she can be statted up as a sensitive, empathetic type, with knowledge of the occult and especially current New Age tendencies. She is a student - her specialization and professional/hobby skills are up to you.
      • Cult specialists, like deprogrammers, psychologists, cult researchers, journalists.
      • Science types, especially astronomers, as the scenario revolves around an observatory. However, this scientist is not a resident of the Owens Valley Radio Observatory.
      • No representatives of official law enforcement.
    System: 7th ed.

    Starting date: ~ late May

I’m interested, possibly playing an investigative reporter.

You're welcome!

Anybody else? It'd be great to have, for example, a science type, to round out the party.
