A Star On the Shore - Classic Era CoC 6th

Post by BenTheRat »

This is a sequal to The Rat's Haunting. I will open this game up to as many as 8 players. And will give preferred spots to those that played in The Rat's Haunting. You can play your character from the 1st game, with skill increases, or start a new character if your's died. Of which happened to several.

But I can also take several new players so if you are interested respond here. I expect my players to try and post at least every other day and prefer every day. If you go more than a week without posting (or letting me know you won't be able to) I'll give you a prompt. Go 2 weeks and I'm likely to replace you or do other nasty gruesome stuff to you. ;)

*********************
It is August 1921, a mere 5 months since you faced off and killed Tom Lawrence and the Reverend. But then Phil the reporter had escaped with the body of the reverened. You had discovered enough information to find Mr. Corbitt and kill him as well, but not before burning the house down and allowing Corbitt to kill over 2 dozen of Boston's finest.

The memories still haunt you, even though the physical wounds have healed and Dr. Chambers arranged for a psychiatrist to help you through the nightmares that plague you. He pays for your lodging and a nice stipend to support you, but you still don't feel like you owe him anything. Hell you had saved the world, and no one knew. All you got out of it was a one bedroom apartment and a weekly check barely enough to live on. He had warned you when you started down this path that the curtain would be drawn back. Is there any turning back? That itch to pull the curtain back further is still there, you don't deny it, though you've tried to leave town a half dozen times, you never make it to the train station. It's into you now like a drug addict needing another fix.

Then the letter arrived. You immediately recognize the hand writing and letter head as that of Dr. Chambers. You couldn't stop your hands from trembling in both fear and anticipation as you opened the letter to read. "Your presence is needed most urgently. There has been a break-in at the Chapel. Please come to my offices at the museum tonight at 7 PM. Sincerely Dr. Chambers"

Here it was, the notice you had been waiting for. Another chance to pull the curtain back. What horrors would await you this time? How many of your friends will die this time because you hesitate. You feel the cold steel you wear all the time and feel assured, if only for a second more. How many times had you thought about using it over the last few months? Will it even be useful this time around. You reach for the MAPS satchel you always kept handy, just in case, and look at your watch.

.
I plan to start the game in the next week, so please let me know if you're interested.

Sincerely, Ben The Rat...

Thanks. I could make a new character unless I am needed to take over an old one for continuity...up to you. Also, do I need to be familiar with the events of the first scenario?

Most of the characters were killed in the first one. Want to say 4 survived out of 7 or 8. And I think all those players are returning. So bringing in a new character it might be more realistic not to be that familiar with it. I encourage player interaction, roleplaying, etc... As long as it doesn't stop the game.
So come up with a character concept, roll them up and we can go from there.

I created the forum here, using the description in the initial post as the text blurb, though it was rather long. I can change it for you if you want.

I'm thinking of playing a cop who survived the massacre and wants to find out why his buddies died. Could be a good way to get me involved.

Sounds good, though I have a hook for all player types. Several cops or firemen could have survived the slaughter.

Did you ever get a chance to read my Haunting?

BTW, this is an original module, I hope you guys like it.

Yes, I read along with the whole thing.

Original scenarios are fine with me. All of the scenarios I've run here are original.

I should have time to create my character this weekend.

Yea that is a bit long.

I moved it into the forum, so change it to.

A Star On the Shore

August 1921, Boston.
A dead guard at the abandoned chapel, a stolen statue revealing strange numbers and a burnt postcard. A strange night sighting by a Harvard professor only 2 days later has led to too many coincidences to ignore.
Dr. Chambers is forming another MAPS team, and you have been called.

Really interested in playing again, still sad that Jordie died, but will revamp a character based upon her with sororal relations from the orphanage they grew up. Will also change the background of these characters as well, to something more simple and clearcut, instead of a elaborate unjust crime story when I started Rat's Haunting.

BenTheRat, do you have some kind of hook for my character? I'm thinking of being a freelance photojournalist.
The other children cheered him on. His name voiced in a steadily rising pace, urging him to do it. “Am I really doing this?”, the young boy thought and struck his victim with a rock.

Got you covered. It will be the same hook that brought in Jordie. Unless it is a relative or close friend, then they will get something else.

Ok bibble, you will make 8 and we will be full with that.

I have posted character creation guidelines. I'll set up a OOC thread for you guys to talk in case you want to organize your group better. Welcome aboard.

For right now if anyone else wants in, they will have to be on the waiting list in case someone drops out.

BTW, I think Priest wants to go back to Warren. Which means the First Aid character Scott is not being used, in case someone wants to play him. And Occigan will not be joining us this round so Charles the Exec. Assistant if anyone wants to play him. Just let me know.

Neither of these characters are required, but if you are too busy to make your own, and you want to just pick up with them that is fine.

It will be a close friend from the orphanage, almost like family.

I don't mind playing a premade character. I'll take Scott if no one wants the poor bugger.

Scott was an okay guy, had some good skills. It's just that I have an affinity with Warren, probably comes from having created him and almost losing him to a possessed dagger.
