Hey Ash,
I'm interested. If you don't mind, could you give us a little more detail?

Re: The Island of the Lotus Eaters. Modern day Japan
I might be interested as well with a little more info.
Re: The Island of the Lotus Eaters. Modern day Japan
Interested as well. I began rolling for a character for fun already, in fact.
Re: The Island of the Lotus Eaters. Modern day Japan
I might be interested, what's the game about ?
"The most merciful thing in the world is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents."
Re: The Island of the Lotus Eaters. Modern day Japan
Ah. The game that never was. I suppose I could pick this one up again.
Re: The Island of the Lotus Eaters. Modern day Japan
I'm still interested if you do.

OK excellent. Can I simply run from this thread?

Re: The Island of the Lotus Eaters. Modern day Japan
I can create a board for you, and you'll run the game from there. I'll need a text description too, like you'll see for the other games on the home page. Also, do you want me to create the forum for you now, or would you rather wait for more players?

Please roll characters for everyday working folk on modern Japan. This could be whatever you fancy. Salaryman, train driver, convenience store worker, traffic warden etc.

Re: The Island of the Lotus Eaters. Modern day Japan
Is this good for a character?
Mori Kiyoko
The Mori family are the owners of a moderately upmarket hotel - they gave Kiyoko a good education as a point of pride, but then gave her a low-ranking role in the business as a point of traditionalism - which hasn't endeared her to the other staff at her level, who think of her as not quite one of them, even if they rarely show it. Nevertheless she takes a (sometimes stubborn and resentful) pride in her job. And in fairness the traditions aren't meaningless to her - she doesn't just follow Shinto out of habit or duty, and time spent at the shrine helps her balance her various frustrations. The other way she deals with them is via karaoke in noisy clubs (she thinks she is a better singer than she is).
Occupation: Hotel Receptionist
Characteristics: STR 10, CON 10, SIZ 8, DEX 13, APP 14, INT 17, POW 11, EDU 15.
Idea Roll 85, Luck Roll 55, Know Roll 75.
Age 28.
Damage Bonus 0.
Hit Points 9.
Magic Points 11.
SAN 55.
For an occupation of Hotel Receptionist, I adapted Spokesperson from the core book - it only has seven skills, which would have made some of them higher than seemed logical, so I added an Other Language to make up eight, figuring she has to talk to foreign guests (that's her Korean skill) - is that ok?
I've also done two versions of the skill list, because I wasn't sure if you'd be using the additional ones from Secrets of Japan. For the first list, I swapped out Spokeperson's Credit Rating for Cultural Etiquette (which seemed more in line with being a receptionist), and one-other-as-a-speciality skill I made Urban Navigation (for when guests ask her how to get around). Personal skills include Corporate Culture, Shinto Lore and Buddhist Lore.
In the second list, I put the Corporate Etiquette points in to Disguise (used to navigate around people and come across as "like them"), the Urban Navigation points into Navigate (still generally used in the city), and the Corportate Culture points into Credit Rating. The Shinto/Buddhist Lore points could go into Occult, but that doesn't seem quite right - I could use History - or make up up a Religion skill.
Let me know what I should go with.
