All Flesh Must Be Eaten

Post by Priest »

I am thinking of starting a ‘Walking Dead’ style game using the ‘All Flesh Must Be Eaten’ system of rules, and using the ‘War of the Dead’ story from Daring Entertainment.
I will require a strict posting regime of every 24 hours.
I will move the storyline forward at 8:00pm (GMT) each evening. Before that time players may post as often as they wish, but the action will not advance prior to that time, to keep players from rushing ahead.
As I have said I will be using AFMBE, or at least a ‘light’ version of the rules. Technically it will be mostly free form.

At this time I am simply testing the waters, gauging the possible interest

If you think this is for you, let me know. :D

I'd be interested in playing this if you're going to run another AFMBE game here. I'd try to post every day, but it might not always be possible.

I'm not familiar with All Flesh Must be Eaten, but I love zombie stories and would like to play.

Further information;

Initially I require a maximum of 6 characters. Though this may change at a later date as the story progresses.
The action starts on board a cruise ship, The Pinnacle, so characters need a valid reason for being aboard as passengers not crew. As it starts out as a holiday cruise, character dependants are encouraged (bonuses will be given, during Character creation). Occupations are up to the individual player, characters may choose a military or law enforcement background, but as they are on leave/vacation they will have no access to occupational hardware. However you may feel that knowing how to use a rocket launcher might be useful at some stage.
In the end remember this is not a simple ‘zombie whack’ story, it deals with far more complex issues. So, no matter what background is chosen this story is all about the survival of ordinary folk in extraordinary circumstances. The following is taken from the story itself and gives an important take on the whole zombie issue;

THE ZOMBIE GENRE AND WAR OF THE DEAD

It’s important to note that the modern day concept of the zombie in film and literature is owed almost in its entirety to George A. Romero, beginning with his 1968 film “Night of the Living Dead.” In the setting of War of the Dead, Romero never made that film or any of its sequels and, as a result, the concept of the Living Dead never existed in film or print.
Characters in War of the Dead are totally unfamiliar with the Living Dead. The idea of the dead reanimating, the possibility of a bite being one possible method of Infection, or the need to destroy the brain when combating the Living Dead is alien to them when the outbreak first takes place. Such knowledge should come only through experience, and through life-and-death encounters. (War of the Dead – Daring Entertainment)

So, if your interested in playing, please give me a short character concept. Nothing elaborate and no stats, just a rough idea of a character and his or her reasons for being aboard.

Hey, I'm thinking for my character some kind of crook. The rough idea I have is a safe cracker/thug for some small crime cartel, who's on vacation with his 6 or so year old daughter. I don't know if he'd be combat heavy but he'd definitely know how to fight; and of course have a few larceny skills. He wouldn't have any ill intentions for his time on the ship, he mostly keeps to himself.

I was thinking about playing a Cuban refugee who now lives in Florida and became a baseball player. He'll be on the cruise on vacation.

I don't suppose I could count as the third by playing a second character? I really want to play this.

Give it a bit longer and see who else shows an interest. I presume that Easter was not a good time to launch this as many people seem to have been holidaying. But I'm glad your keane.

Hi. I am returning after an absense and, seeing that most of the games I was participating in have either vanished or advanced without me, would and could give this a spin, barring a full roster already. Anyways, I'll throw my hat in and await your consideration...

Excellent...if we get one more player. I was thinking of playing a nurse, who after suffering a miscarriage and seeing her relationship hit hard times, has taken it upon herself to embark on a self-imposed sabbatical to collect her thoughts..hence on this cruise...So thanks for having me onboard and here's hoping we get one more! I'm all in :D

Okay, so maybe the posting requirement was a bit heavy. I'll reduce that to three times per week, and advance the story twice per week. We'll see if that makes any difference and induces one more person to come forward for what may prove an interesting vacation.

I totally agree, the faster the pace the better. If I get the players and they want the faster post rate then that's what it will be,

I can post once per day most of the time, but sometimes (such as last Friday) I won't be able to post. I have no problem with the game moving faster as long as everyone can post that quickly.
