The Condemned (Arkham 1922)

Post by Cearlan »

Arkham, Massachusetts; during the late summer of 1921, two good friends and fellow Miskatonic University botany students Richard Cardigan and Henry Atwater strolled west from Arkham to camp along the Miskatonic River to gather samples and specimens of the local flora and fauna. They were expected to return on Saturday but failed to do so following the sudden freak storm during Friday night.

Early Sunday morning, Atwater was found wandering along west River Street, in a disturbed state of mind. Police took him to St. Mary's Hospital, where he was questioned and sedated.

Atwater's nearly incoherent ramblings led police to surmise that the campers had been struck by lightning on Friday evening while they slept.

But of course we know different ... don't we? This adventure can be essayed by any number of investigators of moderate to extensive experience and, if that is possible, who possess unusually steady nerves. So runs the blurb at the beginning of the investigation, but I am looking to run this as either a one-shot, or if the players wish to as part of a campaign, hence setting the year at the beginning of the 1920's

The investigators could be either friends of Henry or Richard, but not their professors please. They could also be hired by the University to try and discovered what happened to Richard Cardigan and what happened to leave poor Henry in such a state. Was it as simple as a lightning strike?

I'm interested in playing this one. There was an attempt to run it before (it's in The Graveyard if you want to read it). I read it and followed along, so I know a little about the beginning of the scenario and have been exposed to some spoilers. However, I don't remember it all that well (it was years ago) and it didn't get all that far.

So far we have Corban, DrP and Mr Handy - I am working on another player to sign up. If she does then I think we can be ready to roll around the end of the first week of April.

If there's room I'd like to apply.

If you could all submit your character ideas I will see if they can be worked together somehow.

Mr. Handy, could you please set up the sub forum for me and we can start once characters are all worked out

Cheers

The forum is all set up here. I copied the text from your initial post to use as the blurb, but I can change it if you like.

I was thinking of playing a nun who works at St. Mary's Hospital as a nurse.
