Trail?

Post by Priest »

Ladies and Gentlemen of the investigative ilk,
I am considering an attempt at Trail of Cthulhu. A scenario of my own devising. So I am gauging the receptiveness of this forums membership.
I am thinking maybe three or four characters for a scenario that has a late 19th century background but a early 1920s investigation, set in England.
Although I have a long (too long) history of role-playing and Keeping in particular, I am new to the ideas of Play-by-Post, and to 'Trail'. But I am willing to give it a go if there are those willing to give me a go.
Please let me know if interested, and I'll take it from there.

Cheers, Andy (Priest)

Noted. Any others?

If sufficient interest is shown, I'll reveal some of the background.

I'm keen on a 19th century setting, Edwardian or Gaslight, I suppose one would call it. What did you have in mind for your adventure?

The idea is that the background starts in the 19th century, the Sudan to be precise, but the events don't begin untill 1923. So it will be more 'classic age' than 'gaslightish'. Interested?
I'll post the introduction.

The God in the Bone
Howard Alexander discovered God during his time in captivity after an ill fated retaliatory attempt following the death of Gordon at Khartoum in 1885.
It was said that there in the hell-hole of Omdurman from which few English soldiers returned, Captain Howard Alexander of the 10th Hussars discovered god. Not the God of the Christian Bible, the Mohammedans,or any other known god, but a god long forgotten and buried beneath the timeless sands of the Sudan. A god who should, but for a quirk of fate, have remained forgotten.
Eventually, after 14 long years of a brutal captivity which few Britons survived, Captain Howard Alexander had been rescued and repatriated to Britain. It was said that he had survived because he carried God in his pocket, and indeed he did, for on a small shard of ancient bone, carved in a tiny, unknown but intricate pattern of symbols which swirled and shifted like the very sand of that land, was, to Howard’s torture blasted mind, the name of God. It had been revealed to him during the many long whispered conversations with God which had sustained him through those long years. And it was that God that he carried with him from the Sudan to the peace and quiet of England in the final year of the 19th century.

However, the events occur in 1923, London, England.

Rethinking this a touch. May go with 'Call of Cthulhu' rules out of familiarity.

I'm interested too, and I'd definitely prefer the Call of Cthulhu rules. I have tried Trail, but I'm not very familiar with those rules, and I like CoC better.

Sadly, owing to family illness, I'm going to have to leave this for a while. I'll get back to it when I can.
