Four or Five Canal Boat Crew members needed

Post by Tonyfr »

Image

Four or five canal boat crew members are needed for a 1840s adventure up the Ohio & Erie Canal. Workers must be of strong body and mind.

(Game will be BRP set in 1840s. I ran this scenario, Cthulhu By Canalway, at Origins 2005)

Greetings Tonyfr,

Your Game sounds great. I've sent along a complete character submission. Of course I'm flexible on any or all of this. Thanks

Seamus was Born in 1808 in a small town near Belfast, Ireland. He grew up without a father and a stern mother who insisted he become a Priest from as early as he could remember. Upon the age of maturity, Seamus entered the Seminary, but his venture into the holy was doomed to fail from the start . Attentions he received and reciprocated from and English Protestant Gentleman's daughter left her with child and him on the run under pain of death from her father.

Seamus boarded a ship bound for America, as many of his Irish bretheren did during this period. Upon arrival in the new world, He found work as a digger on the Eerie canal and once it was done, he was lucky enough to get himself a job actually working on one of the canal boats. He's been running the lines for ten years now and has worked his way up to a respected position among the boatmen who ply the trade betwen Newyork and Ohio.

Character

Post by Saladin »

Sounds like I'm in. Great!

Nope. I made Seamus up on the fly. Not much use for canal boat crewmen characters lying around ya know. It's sort of a very specific genre. :)

I'm looking forward to this game. Can't wait to be surprised by what the mythos might have in store along the canals of early America. Quite the unique and different setting, Tonfyr. When it's all over you'll have to let me know how the convention games went.

Thanks for having me aboard!

William is somewhat of a disappointment to his family. He was sent to a prestigious school but due to his wandering mind he was forced to drop out. Since then he has wandered this great country and writing about his tales. Unfortunanetly, his writings have only been published in little known newspapers but he is currently putting together a collection of tales on the working society, how they live and the stories they tell. William is convinced that this will be what gets him famous. He can figure no better way to start off than applying for a job on a canal boat.

I can go more in depth if you want. Let me know.

Robin a.k.a "Big Bubba" Robinson is a big black man who grew up in Harlem. He got the nickname "Big Bubba" because he was so big, both in height and in weight. He never went to school and grew up in the street. His size and his big muscles usually scare the thugs away. However, beneath this tough guy surface, Bubba is a big sensitive man. At nights, he performs as a cabaret artist in underground cabarets for negroes. He dances and sings classic gospel songs. He sometimes cries because he doesn't have a girlfriend. He no longer has any family and he would like to earn a little more money so he can become a respectable man and find himself a black bride with whom he could have children. Therefore he is all too eager to join an expedition with the promise of decent money, showing off his muscles as a good reason to hire him.

Looks like we have a enough crew members to start up the canal. The route will be directly up the Ohio-Erie Canal to Cleveland and Lake Erie.

Would you like to schedule a time to chat at YSDC to discuss rules, etc or I could just start another thread when the games begin.

Could you also PM with your email addresses so I can send data to you during the game? Also, can you let us know what time zone you are located in? It helps to know this so you can gauge the length of time to expect a response.

I am in eastern time zone (GMT -5)

I'm on GMT+1 and don't use an email. There are private messages though. Feel free to change psychology to, say, 69 (quite the erotic stat), and distribute the 30 resulting points to animal/boat skills.

WORK HAPPENS

Post by Tonyfr »

Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it) I have a project I need to finish at work. Hence, I hope to start the game next Monday. I want to make sure I have enough time to get the game going in the right direction.

I have characters from everyone. However, we have one small problem. A captain is needed for this canal boat. :D

I would really prefer if the Captain was NOT an NPC.

Is this a request for an additional player?
