London 1890's

Post by ayupduck »

Hello.

I've been toying with a Gaslight adventure for some time now, and finally feel I have both the time and a solid enough story to give running a PBP justice. I'm pretty experienced with CoC (I'll be using 5th edition rules) and have participated in several online RPGs over the years, although this will be my first time as keeper using this medium.

I'm looking for a small group of players who are willing to commit to a steady posting rate of around once per day, as I would like to try and keep the game moving at a reasonable pace. In an effort to maintain this pace I will also do most of the rolling, although much of this will be visible to all. The game will be set in Victorian London and without giving anything away, will involve scrapes with both the cities nefarious and unearthly inhabitants. Combat will be present but as with a lot of CoC, clever investigators will be able to avoid most confrontations, or at least tip the odds in their favour.

If you are interested please post a investigator below (sheets or just concepts are acceptable at this stage).

Cheers.

After re-reading my original post I thought I should flesh things out a bit.

As previously mentioned the game will be set in central London, 1894. Investigators should be of society’s middle or upper class. I'm not a stickler for reams of background as I realise that some people prefer to develop their character as they play. However, I will do my utmost to incorporate interesting investigator history into the game and a bit of detail always helps in bringing the investigators together at the off-set. Details of social clubs or other institution which the investigators may be members of is also desirable.

I intend this first outing to be relatively short and if we can get a good posting rate going I would hope to complete things within a few months. If this goes well and everyone enjoys (survives) the experience I would like to develop things into a more long term campaign.

With a bit of luck I would like to get started next week with a group of 4 or so investigators.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Well, it seems like nobody else haas showed up. If I were you, ayupduck, I'd keep watching this thread. You happened to show up at a bad time (not your fault at all - but if you had made this post a month earlier, before you were ready, saying you would be ready in a month, then you would have a full set of players already). Sometimes that's the way things go. On the other hand, the last time I made a post like this, four players showed up immediately afterward toprove me wrong, so don't despair yet.

Hi ayupduck, I'm having to abandon my own Gaslight Era campaign for the time being, as I can't spare the time to run three games on here.

I've given your game a plug in my recruitment thread, so hopefully one or two of the players will join Mi-Go Agent here. :)

Good Luck with your game.

I've been cruising about for a first-time PBP RPG thingymabob - you interested in a newbie joining?

I'm not sure about a character though as I'm not terribly familiar with the era - but from the background given I'd venture a just-recruited police officer, a little bit naive, whom is subtly pressured by family into the job (from a long-line of father and grandfather cops). Put on patrol in a darker section of the city, he'd struggle to get through the night in one piece, or constantly have to watch himself and perform to the expectations of a jealous and spiteful 'partner' - thanks to the kid cop's legacy.

Or, a hobo. Whatever :D

I thought I'd ask before I write too much background for my character: would you allow me to play a Clergymen?

I p.m.ed ayupduck, but I didn't get any response. I'll see if there is any other way to contact him. I think he forgot about this post, but he did seem eager to start once it filled up.
