Lounge Car

This mysterious train pulled up at the station and has silently lurked there ever since, engine cooling, and often with strange sounds coming from its mysterious cabins. What secrets can it be hiding? What threats await?

"Warn the others? Whatever that is, it's trying to get on to the train! They're the safe ones! W-we shouldn't split up for now... I must say I'm not all too eager to leave this train right now. It hasn't gotten in yet, maybe it can't? I'm sure the others are fine."

"Oh they know, Miss Lacey was in the waiting room when it broke out, She's quite a charming lady, don't you think?"

"If she is a charming lady than perhaps you should fetch her," says the stranger, still playing the piano without a care in the world. "We could do with a charming lady aboard this train."

Jonathan looks annoyed, especially towards the man at the piano. What the hell is wrong with these people?, he thinks.

He then heads for the Smoking Car, without saying a word.

"Oh I'm sorry, didn't see you there, sir. Name's Charlie Hagan, and you are?" Charlie asks with a grin and a casual demeanour as if there wasn't some monster outside that nearly gored him.

"My name?" he asked, looking happily surprised. "You're the first person to ask for my name!" He plays a more complicated piece of music, then glances back over his shoulder. "You can feel free to grab a drink if you've the coin to pay for it. It's none too wise an idea to start running a tab in this place. Oh, and you have a ticket right? The ticket inspector gets awful surly at folks who don't have a ticket."

"Naturally. It's a big train. You don't think I drove it here all by myself, do you?"

"Well no that would be crazy, and I've been having such a perfectly sane and ordinary day so far." Charlie says sarcastically.

"That's quite a shame. No one wants to have a boring time, do they? Though I suppose this is a small country town. How much fun can you expect here?"

The moment's silence is broken by desperate screaming from the other car.

Charlie sighs and makes his way through to the next car, "Well I tried to warn him."

"I know it's dreadful for me to say, but we don't know what's happening behind those doors and who in heaven knows if we could even help him! We'd be better off barricading those doors, not running off to be next in line for some monsters meal!"

Jonathan runs into the lounge car and shuts the door behind him. He's not screaming anymore, but he's clearly shaking. He looks at Charlie, then says: "What the hell is that thing?" His eyes fix on the bottles behind the counter: "Never mind. I need something to drink. Something strong".

"I could use one myself." Charlie walks over to to look at the selection. "Sobriety is overrated anyway."

"Huh, and there I was thinking you might have had a run in with the ticket inspector," says the fellow cheerily, cocking his head to one side. "You, uh, might wanna pay for what you take from the shelves. Don't wanna rack up a debt now, do ya?"

"Why on earth would he scream seeing the ticket inspector? Actually, I have a better question for you; why don't you be the least bit helpful for a change instead of trying to scare us more? You're not doing anything else, you may as well be useful!"
