Henry fires his pistol at the boar before Lepus gets close to it. He doubts it will do much damage, but perhaps the noise would frighten it as it did the bear.

pistol: dex 11 - 4 for the boar's "armor" = 7. And the boar has the otherwise unexplained Asset of Tenacious Fighter, so I figure the noise alone won't scare it.d20Dagger: DEX = 15 - 4 = 11d20

The bold adventurers prove their courage by attacking the creature that even hunters fear, but fail to injure it, no doubt due to the difficulty of approaching it in its rage.

the wolf has lost half its hit points, so needs to make a cha roll (morale check) or run off cha = 6d20

Sensing that its foe is far too deadly to make further struggle profitable, the badly injured wolf limps away as quickly as its wounds allow, whimpering like a dog beaten by a cruel master.

Boar's attack. dex = 15d20target, in order: lepus, north, eliza, ivan, tinkerer, something else happens:d6Well, let's think of something interesting.

Producing a sound that bears comparison with the squeal of a domesticated swine only as the war cry of a bloodthirsty savage resembles a maiden's laughter, the boar calls out to another of its kind, which appears at a run from within the woods. The best than can be said of a dangerous situation is that this action allows the adventurers a moment to launch their next attack, or to take such other action as may be deemed fit.

Trusting his companions to fight the first boar, Lepus steps back and mutters an incantation to banish vermin. With so many creatures nearby, perhaps he can steer those classed as such to flee towards the boar?

"If one boar is male and one female," says Henry as he reloads his pistol, "perhaps we can get them interested in each other so that they leave us alone. Britches could douse one or both of them with the attractant."

The vermin-banishing spell has its effect, sending myriads of tiny creatures scattering away from the user.

Let's see if the boars are able to avoid being distracted by them. Both have DEX = 152d20

Although this no doubt makes the surrounding area more salubrious, as well as providing sustenance to certain birds and other animals that dine upon such small game, it does not appear to draw the attention of the angry boars.

let's check the sex of the two boars. odd male even female2d4

Casting water upon Doctor North's hope that the demands of nature might overcome the rage of the animals, closer examination reveals that they are both of the male sex. This is not unexpected, as solitary boars are more likely to be of such kind.

two boar attacks, dex = 152d20same six targets as above2d6damage2d6

Perhaps the animals, through some form of ancestral memory, recall the boar hunts which the denizens of the steppes inflicted upon their kind in ages past. In any case, both animals attack Ivan with tusk and tooth, inflicting serious wounds.

Henry rushes to aid Ivan and bind his wounds.

I'll use my Regenerator if I have any charges left.

Yelling a blood-curdling cry, Lepus launches himself at the first boar, dagger flashing.
