Ladies Waiting Room

This small room contains two wing chairs flanking a side table which overlooks a settee. The tableaux would be quite charming if the upholstery matched and wasn't so water stained, and if the flowers weren't shedding their dry and brittle petals to the yellowed lace doily below. The paintings in here struggle to be cheerful, showing lovely meadows and beautiful shorelines, in the feeble light of the single naked bulb. One such painting seems to be missing, the wall behind it less stained by smoke where it had once stood. Has this room always been so … off? Or is it simply something about tonight which makes it look so poorly. Somehow the room also stinks of a bizarre mix of cheap perfume and rancid butter, and there seems no rhyme or reason for either of those scents. Entering this room does leave you with a strong urge to sit down, however, as your heart races and your head swoons.
