My M.R. James inspired 7th ed. CoC game has a spare place after one of the players decided that PbP isn't for her. Luckily it's at an early enough stage that another character can be slotted in unobtrusively.

Thanks! I was thinking of playing as a student, though I could also take over the character of Edie Kidd. I had another thought as well. I could play the junior librarian that was just introduced. I could even bring back my character Cynthia Knight, a Walter Mittyesque junior librarian who was in a short-lived game that fell apart when the Keeper disappeared. I'd just have to remove her Cthulhu Mythos points, bring back her Sanity to its original level, and alter her background to fit the era and setting.
