Two of my players have disappeared mysteriously, and I'm looking for people willing to take over their characters. The Shadow Over Dunwich is the third adventure in my Doctor Who/Call of Cthulhu campaign, but you don't need to know anything about the first two games or even Doctor Who to participate. This scenario is set in Dunwich, England in 1985. The United Nations Intelligence Taskforce has sent a team to locate a missing scientist there. I need replacement players for Private Leonek Novak, a Polish-born driver and engineer, as well as Valerie Soames, a little old lady with hidden talents. Please post here if you're interested and let me know which of the two you'd prefer. We're still early in the adventure, so there isn't a whole lot of catching up, and the team hasn't even reached Dunwich yet.

Welcome aboard, DrPeterson! You've got Leonek now. When you have time, you can catch up on what he's been through so far (it isn't much). You can find his character sheet in Cast of Characters. You should read Your Career in U.N.I.T. if you want a little background, and you may optionally read the Introduction thread. Otherwise, you should stay out of any In Character threads that don't contain your character. When the adventure is over, you'll be able to go back and read everything afterwards. Leonek's story starts in Missing in Action and continues in Accident and Emergency, which is his current thread. Once you've caught up, you should make and post a Spot Hidden roll for your character as you'll see the others have done.

Story, our Time Lord in my Doctor Who/Call of Cthulhu campaign, is currently without a player. If you're interested in taking him over, please post here to let me know. This may be temporary, but it could very well be permanent if his player is unable to return. Note that this will require a significant commitment from whoever plays him, as he will be central to the adventure and will be expected to continue in future adventures. There are also two previous adventures in the Hall of Fame, The Terror Out of Time and The Ninth Planet. Whoever takes over Story should at least read the threads in which Story participated in those games at some point. The first two scenarios aren't directly connected to this one, but they are part of an overarching campaign and some things that happened may be relevant later.

The character of Elliot Webb has been abandoned by his player, and the new player I had lined up to take him over wasn't able to join, so he is once again available. I'm putting Chad Engraham up for grabs as well, since his player also hasn't posted in a long time.

Hey Handy, I'm all caught up and waiting for something to happen in Masks. I think the biggest problem here is things just move too slow.

You may optionally read the Introduction thread in Episode 1, but other than that you may not read IC threads that don't contain your character. In Episode 1, you should read Missing In Action, Infiltration, and Ghostwriter. In Episode 2 (the current one, in the main game forum), you should read Reunion, Bottoms Up, Next Steps, On the Trail, and More Visitors (your current thread). Once you've caught up, you may start posting any time you're ready.

By the way, you could probably pick up your old character Clay in Watch the World Burn. We're early in the second chapter now, and the Keeper has been running him as an NPC since you left.

As you'll see when you read it, he's a bit...different. You should also read Your Career in U.N.I.T. for some background. In addition, you'll need to read Raymond's IC threads to catch up. Don't read any IC threads that don't involve Raymond (except for Introduction in Episode 1, which everyone may read). In Episode 1, you'll need to read Missing In Action, Accident and Emergency, What's Up, Doc?, Regrouping, and Museum Piece. In Episode 2 (the current episode), please read Searching the Past, Tourists, History Repeating, More Visitors, and Together Again, which is his current thread. In addition to Raymond MacIntyre, who is still available to be taken over, it will soon be possible for me to introduce new UNIT characters early in Episode 4. You can get started creating your character in the Character Creation/Rules thread any time you like. The "Your Career in U.N.I.T. thread" has guidelines to help with character creation. Given how I think the endgame will unfold, you probably want to create a character who is either combat-oriented or has a role that can support combat-oriented characters, such as a medic.

I'm not sure how long it will be before I can introduce the new characters, but I'm hoping it will be within a few weeks.

Yes, there's still room! Welcome aboard! First you'll need to decide whether you want to take over the character of Valerie Soames or if you want to create your own character. If you're creating your own, you can find background information and occupation templates in Your Career in U.N.I.T., and you can build your character in the Character Creation/Rules thread. It has full instructions in the initial post, but I can answer any questions you have there. You may read the Introduction thread in Episode 1, though you cannot read any of the other In Character threads unless your character is in them.

If you want to play Valerie Soames (her character sheet can be found in Cast of Characters, you'll need to read all of the IC threads she has been in, but none of the others. Her first thread is Missing in Action in Episode 1, and there's a link at the end of each thread to direct you to her next one. If you play her, I can provide a full list of which threads you'll need to read.

You should play whatever you prefer to play, and there's definitely room. Raymond MacIntyre is complicated in more ways than one, but could be fun if you're up for it. Valerie Soames doesn't have the best stats, but she can be a good deal of fun too. Both of them have a lot of catching up, but you'd be able to get started right away. If you'd rather create your own UNIT character, that's perfectly fine. Just remember that this part of the game is liable to involve action, and that most of the UNIT troops going in will either be combat-oriented or well-suited to support combat operations.

I'm up for doing Valerie. I always like playing less than perfect stats. Could you let know if there is anymore reading than what you have already posted band I will get caught up on her.

Yes, you're welcome to join, Waylander! It's a homebrewed campaign, so it's not official in the sense of being published, but it is long-running and successful. You could either take over the character of Raymond MacIntyre, though that would require some catching up and it is a complicated character, or you could create a new UNIT character as I've mentiioned above.

That's all right, though you really only need to catch up if you want to take over Raymond MacIntyre. If you create your own UNIT character, there's absolutely no catching up at all (in fact, you're not allowed to read the other characters' IC threads until after the adventure is over). If you'd rather not, that's fine. I plan to start the fourth scenario in this campaign, which will be set in ancient Rome, after this one concludes, so you could join that one. However, you'd need to wait months for that.

How far is this campaign?

I can help you. Feel free to ask me any questions you may have here. This scenario (the third one in the campaign, in which the scenarios largely stand alone with mostly loose connections) is approaching the endgame, which is liable to have a lot of action. The Your Career in U.N.I.T. thread lists various character templates and occupational skills for each, though I recommend that you create a character who is either combat-oriented (such as a Soldier or Military Officer) or capable of supporting combat troops (such as a Medical Officer). The Character Creation/Rules thread will walk you through the process and get you started. Keep in mind that this scenario is set in 1985. Your character will also need to be affiliated with UNIT in some way.

Hey, I've just signed up after a very long hiatus and am very interested in jumping into a game. It's been too long since my last adventure (The Dreaming Man, under a different account as a three Cs member). Just seeing if there would be room available here still. I will probably be needing a quick refresher on a couple of things as play goes on, although I should manage reasonably well.

Yes, there's room for a new player, though we're into the endgame and you'll need to catch up on some things. You may take over an abaonded character. All of the ones marked as MIA on the Character Sheets thread are available (except Valerie Soames, whose old player may be returning), though the ones in the bottom part of the list require the least back reading. Or you could create your own character who would be a UNIT soldier, and I'll put you into the action somewhere. There'd still be a little catching up, but not as much as for the others.
